APSWP stands in solidarity with the concerns of the transgender communities & releases the TG position statement. We believe the Amendment to the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act does more harm rather good. We call upon policy makers to reconsider issues flagged.

Professional standards are meaningful only when recruitment reflects them.

@RegoAnita @MoHFW_INDIA @mansukhmandviya The Recruitment Rules (RR) of Central Institute of Psychiatry (CIP), Ranchi still have Sociology as the qualification to the post of PSW's & Professors, contrary to the basic qualification of PSW's as per MHCA 2017. This RR was approved after 2017.

@netshrink @amritbakhshy I do not think there is a need to amend the Act. The rules can probably describe it and make a mention of the nomenclature change.

@amritbakhshy @meerarenjith Bakhshyji, it will be a change of nomenclature of the course and less likely to die. Yes the definition will be relooked for sure and as Dr. Pathare mentioned it should be suitable for the period the act will be applicable.

@netshrink MPhil reflected in the MHCA is different from those run by the regular university (1year academic program). The 2 year clinical MPhil course run by institutes including NIMHANS are existing to this day. Harmonising is welcome once the course is renamed into something else.
