@bmann Very cool!
https://t.co/KPqb2VSWYR It is easy to estimate that it runs in way more than ten bn installs purely based on the fact that there are 7 bn smart phones and 1 bn tablets in the world , and we know that each of them run at least one, but likely many more curl installs.
I saw a somewhat astonishing thing today. GPT was asked a question that it needed to write code to answer, and given access to a Python REPL. It wrote buggy code, then based on the error message it fixed its own code until it worked (and gave the correct answer). It debugged.
We toured an Amazon Fulfillment center yesterday and… 🤯
Incredible.
• Inventory is stored on constantly moving shelves. Robots take the shelf to the pick station.
• Inventory is randomly placed on shelves, tracked by cameras (go store technology).
• They spread inventory for the same SKU out across bins so it’s always closer to a pick station.
• Inventory counts are automated with cameras.
The computing that goes into the operation is unbelievable.
What a huge competitive advantage.
@bmann We've been using these meal kits for a couple of years. So many new culinary skills from repetition of similar recipes and knowing where to adjust recipes.
As a bonus, I spend a lot less time getting groceries and later pitching wilted vegetables.
@mjmauboussin Perspective. Buybacks are "portional buyouts of partners who decided to leave". If I have a consortium of investors and one decides to leave, the other partners can buy that leaving partner out rather than letting a new partner buy-in and take their place.
@bmann Ah...I see what you mean. FAAS has a lot of promise. It pushes the already solved linking problem into a different realm that needs trust and tooling too.
That said, microblog was an easy docker build from source Xperience compared a typical build 10 years ago. Deploying tho!
@moseskagan It's pretty simple. Buffett will buy large, quality stocks that are trading at less than 8x EBIT. OXY is still below 8x EBIT so buying continues. HPQ is the same as OXY. A couple of years ago he bought a basket of Japanese stocks for similar reasons.
There are wolves in British Columbia known as "sea wolves": 90% of their food comes from the sea. They have distinct DNA setting them apart from interior wolves and they're entirely dedicated to the sea, swimming several miles everyday in search of seafood https://t.co/xtBeAWamt6
After 17 years, we finally “cracked” a $100M churn problem at PayPal. Zero fancy tech. Just a spreadsheet, some simple SQL, and a physicist named Ben. 👇🏼
This is a story about how I lost $10,000,000 by doing something stupid.
Ten. Million. Dollars.
Literally up in smoke. Money bonfire.
That’s enough to retire with $250,000+ in annual income.
Here’s what happened…
@bmann haha...that monkey theme goes waaaay back 😁
back on track, Ghost is excellent -- a low hurdle website tool for most people; use it as the website for one of our non-tech companies

@bmann@jaethan XPS13 is great for business travel. Right size for biz class or economy. It's a solid piece of gear. Never liked the Lenovo feel - clunky and too bulky
