@EddieComeaux@UCLALawReview@DrUJayakumar I believe that there is a crucial need for continued scrutiny and transparency in admissions, especially if we eliminate race-conscious measures. It underscores the imperative to address systemic hidden biases that disproportionately benefit white and privileged applicants.
@jsulbn@TA_ED50 Achieving equal opportunities for all students is crucial! A merit-based system that values individual accomplishments and achievements can be a fair way to ensure a level playing field in college admissions promoting diversity and inclusivity. #UCR50@TA_ED50
Policies that avoid considering race (race-neutral alternatives) might not be effective replacements for practices that explicitly take race into account especially in highly selective institutions. #UCR50@TA_ED50
@Nareenclute@abhornUCRedu Absolutely Nareen! College student-athletes deserve all the recognition for all their dedication and hard work. They contribute significantly to revenue. Let's advocate for a system that values and compensates their efforts! #UCR50@TA_ED50
Athletes continue to progressively lose rights, especially in recent times with restrictions on social media access within institutions, imposed through monitoring and regulations. #UCR50@TA_ED50
@Nareenclute1 @abhornUCRedu I agree Nareen! There’s definitely a lot of room for improvement. Advocating for gender-free sports will be a step toward a more equitable, inclusive, and progressive sports culture that values individuals based on their abilities rather than their gender. @TA_ED50#UCR50
Ensuring that women are adequately represented among leaders in college athletics is not just a matter of equity; it is a strategic imperative for fostering diversity, inclusive environments, and enhancing the overall success and impact of athletic programs. #UCR50@TA_ED50
@trinbans @KatryaLy You’re right Trinnity, its also common to see microaggressions such as comments, gestures, or behaviors that marginalize or invalidate the experiences of female college athletes. Implementing anti-discrimination policies are essential to solve this issue. @TA_ED50
In sports with international competitions, athletes from different countries and ethnic backgrounds come
together, providing opportunities for cultural exchange and interaction. #UCR50@TA_ED50
@Nareenclute1 @abhornUCRedu I agree! Student athletes are under a lot of pressure of doing perfect off and on field but it can’t be possible without the support from their institution/public in manners that help the mission of higher education organizations. @TA_ED50#UCR50
Stereotyping student athletes has been very common and they are viewed as provided with special treatment, unintelligent and bullies. We live in a world highly influenced by the media and these negative scandle stories and stereotypes increase revenue. #UCR50@TA_ED50
@cortez85218@KatryaLy I agree with your statement! Simply judging their grades doesn’t help. Athlete students should be provided with ways to manage their academic and athletic life correctly rather than being judged for not doing good perfect in both departments. @TA_ED50
“Journey’s better than the end, practices to me were the journey”(John W). Although athletes should succeed in academics, its important to look at their academic achievements by process to explain those outcomes rather than judging the outcomes. #UCR50@TA_ED50@abhornUCRedu
@arianyp14@abhornUCRedu I agree with you Ariana! My post is grounded based on this thought too. Sadly, the talent in sports is far more in demand than the educational success of those involved in athletics. @TA_ED50
With respect to athletics and academics, it is fair to say that the need of ability in sports is more significant than progress in higher Education. #UCR50@abhornUCRedu
@cortez85218@KatryaLy Yes!! Thankfully we are seeing women beat all these gender stereotypes by showing positive correlation between sports and their academic/ personal life. #UCR50@abhornUCRedu
Yet again the myths about women betraying their nature for picking an athletic profession are disproved. Athletic women have way stronger immune systems. Besides, kids who see their moms associated with sports understand women’s value in sports/all careerss. #UCR50@abhornUCRedu
