AI generative software is engineered by exploiting the work of 100s of thousands of creatives without permission or compensation.
It's a technology for using the labor of others without crediting them or paying for it.
It is true that as adults we have the freedom to draw our own ethical lines. Many of us feel the implementation and use of AI generative software is fundamentally unethical for the above reason. Some of us don't.
Either way, the output is unsafe to use in many circumstances when working for clients. Many contracts specify that I, as the contractor, have both produced the work on my own AND that I clearly own the copyright - to transfer to my customer.
AI generative software precludes this. I didn't created the asset and I don't own the copyright if I use the program to generate the image.
Are some clients okay with this? Sure. But not the corporate clients that I work for.
