Today is day 2 of me learning how to swim and it was a long one, I thought I had gotten rid of my fears yesterday which was day one, turns out I had not, I drank a bit of water today when trying to come out of the water, but am sure proud of myself for starting this💃💃💃💃
Tomorrow is Monday.

Applying for a data analyst job?
Here’s how to stand out.
Most applicants say,
“I’m passionate about data and uncovering insights.”
But job descriptions tell you exactly what they want:
- Data cleaning and preprocessing
- SQL queries for analysis
- Visualizations in Tableau or Power BI
So instead of explaining what you’d do, just do it.
- Pick a real dataset (e.g., from Kaggle or the company’s public data),
- clean and analyze it using Excel or SQL,
- create a concise Tableau/Power BI dashboard with key insights.
Then send it with a note like:
“Instead of telling you I can do this job,
I figured I’d show you.”
- It shows you take initiative,
- understand the role,
- and can deliver results without hand-holding.
You’re not just talking
But showing it.

So instead of just applying, I decided to show you how I’d approach the role
Here’s a sample analysis I did using [dataset name, e.g., customer sales data]. I cleaned the data, wrote SQL queries to uncover trends, and built a Tableau dashboard to visualize key insights.
And here’s a quick 2-minute video walking through my process from data prep to final insights.
Hope it’s helpful, whether or not I’m the right fit.
