@RoderickOwain60 Best was the 1st replay I saw, v Blackpool in 66 , Crossan scored in both games . 3-1 win. Great crowd at Maine Rd.Worst has to be v Spurs in 81, should have won the 1st game .Needed Tueart as sub not Tony Henry.
@toryboypierce@Keir_Starmer We had a by election at similar point in the Wilson govt. 1967
Winston Churchill came quite close, here’s a tiny bit of history reflecting Ted Heaths take on the result ( letter to my dad)
@RoderickOwain60 As usual Owain , you have planted a brain worm , I can’t get this out of my head , but so far only come up with Dave Bacuzzi , pretty decent full back but not Joe Mercer’s cup of tea .
@RoderickOwain60 Mostly H , some struggled in poor sides Charvet the worst by far.
Mac M had one decent game
Tony Cunningham was a trier but a bit out of his depth
@RoderickOwain60 Silkman started reasonably , ( I think he scored on his home debut) chased everything without much success.Sadly the crowds enthusiasm faded as he moved into headless chicken mode on a regular basis.
Suckling was OK ish, crowd never really on his back.
Frontzeck useless.
@SxrgioSZN Depends on the era … Alan Oakes never really got the accolades , but the Bell, Lee, Summerbee focus might not have been quite the same without him.
@owainroderick1 Back in the day.. Rodney Marsh seemed to be a wonderful signing… now we were in the big league !, but , just fans , we didn’t get that the dynamic would change , never the less , we saw some great goals , even though they didn’t lead to trophies in the end.
