A violência sexual invisibilizada contra os palestinos

Há um fato importante que precisa ser salientado quando falamos dos estupros cometidos por sionistas e Israel contra os palestinos. O próprio Benny Morris, historiador israelense e sionista, reconhece a ocorrência de estupros sionistas contra palestinos desde 1948.

E há uma questão fundamental: toda vez que você souber de algum caso ou de alguma estatística sobre israelenses que estupraram palestinos, o certo é MULTIPLICAR ESSE NÚMERO POR MIL para tentar se aproximar da quantidade real de casos.

Isso porque estamos falando de uma subnotificação gigantesca. A população palestina é majoritariamente muçulmana e, para muitas mulheres palestinas, assim como para muitos homens, existe uma vergonha muito grande associada ao fato de terem sido violentados sexualmente por soldados israelenses, ainda que, evidentemente, a culpa não seja deles.

Muitas vítimas sentem vergonha, medo do julgamento dos familiares e da comunidade e receio das consequências de denunciar aquilo que soldados israelenses fizeram contra elas. Além disso, estão submetidas ao poder militar dos próprios agressores, em um contexto de ocupação, prisões arbitrárias, interrogatórios, tortura e impunidade.

Já existem muitos casos documentados de soldados e outros agentes israelenses que estupraram, violentaram sexualmente e humilharam palestinos. Essa prática não começou agora. Ela existe desde 1948 e continua acontecendo.

Mas tudo isso é profundamente subdocumentado. Por isso, aquilo que aparece nos relatórios, nas denúncias e nas estatísticas não deve representar nem 0,001% do que acontece na realidade. O que chega ao nosso conhecimento é apenas uma parcela ínfima. Para compreender a dimensão real dessa violência, é preciso olhar para cada caso conhecido e multiplicá-lo por mil.

There are disasters happening in Gaza that most of the world knows nothing about.

Because the entire sewage system has been destroyed, people are forced to dig a pit about four meters deep next to their tents to serve as a sewage collection pit. Every family has to dig one because there is no longer any functioning sewage network.

My family and I dug more than six of these pits during our displacement. Every time we were forced to move to a new place, we had to start over and dig another one.

With the enormous number of tents across Gaza, hundreds of these open pits now surround displaced families. They pose a constant danger, especially to children, and animals also fall into them and die.

Today, a little girl fell into one of these large sewage pits. She was rescued only because a young man risked his own life to climb down and save her. This was not the first incident of its kind. Other children have drowned in these pits before, and many cats and dogs have also fallen into them and died.

Gaza City has collapsed completely. There is no functioning sewage infrastructure left. Large amounts of sewage are discharged into the sea, while the rest remains trapped among the tents, creating a breeding ground for disease, insects, and rodents.

She is not a combatant.

She is an American-Palestinian university student.

She has now been caged in an Israeli dungeon for 58 days — without charges, without reason.

And yet, the same voices that claim to care about human rights have nothing to say.

Because Sama is Palestinian, her story is ignored.

How… how can the funeral of someone who was killed just three hours earlier be targeted? How can a person be targeted even after death? Aren’t funerals sacred in every religion and every human tradition? How can saying goodbye to the dead turn into another massacre?

I couldn’t bear looking at the photo. Ten people were walking in the funeral of their friend and relative, and minutes later, they too were among the dead. I can’t comprehend what I saw, and I can’t find any words to explain it.

What is happening in Gaza has become beyond human comprehension. These are scenes I don’t think anyone anywhere in the world could ever imagine witnessing, yet they have become part of our daily lives. I’ve been in a state of shock for the past three hours, unable to even write a single sentence.

I’m exhausted from writing. I’m exhausted from posting. I’m exhausted from screaming into the void every single day with nothing changing. I’m exhausted from living a life where our only goal is to survive until tomorrow. Were we created just to spend every day trying to escape death?

And what breaks my heart even more is this: how has the world watched these scenes and then simply carried on as if nothing happened? How can so much death and so much suffering pass before the world’s eyes without shaking its conscience?
