EMV (Earned Media Value) และ MIV (Media Impact Value) เป็น vanity metrics คือเป็นตัวเลขที่ดูดีแต่ไม่สะท้อนผลลัพธ์ธุรกิจจริง เพราะตัวเลขพวกนี้มักถูกออกแบบมาเพื่อให้ทีมการตลาดเอาไปขอเงินจากฝ่ายการเงินได้ง่ายขึ้นโดยการแปลงเป็นมูลค่าเป็นดอลลาร์

เขายกตัวอย่างแบรนด์ Dior ว่า ได้เซเลบฯไทยที่แฟนคลับมี engagement สูงมานั่งแถวหน้าแล้วมีคนพูดถึงเยอะ มันไม่ได้แปลว่าแบรนด์ชนะแฟชั่นวีคหรือจะส่งผลต่อสุขภาพแบรนด์ในระยะยาวและผลประกอบการจริง

ดูอย่าง Chanel ซึ่งเป็นแบรนด์ที่ผลประกอบการดีที่สุดตอนนี้ (โต 16% ในครึ่งปีแรกของ 2026 ขณะที่ตลาดหรูโดยรวมยังนิ่ง) กลับไม่ได้ติดอันดับ 1 ในเมตริก EMV/MIV เลย

แสดงว่าตัวเลขเหล่านี้กับผลประกอบการจริงไม่ได้เชื่อมโยงกันอย่างชัดเจน ซึ่งเป็นสิ่งที่ผู้บริหารธุรกิจให้ความสำคัญที่สุด
