@kureha_magica They both make their characters suffer and bleed a lot! But I think Re:Zero is more like Higurashi: the characters may suffer terribly, but only to make their success even more exciting. I don’t know if Urobuchi will ever let Madoka and Homura have a truly happy ending…

@Itay20052 @fatattativa From my perspective, the best part of re:zero is the many clever ways Tappei keeps challenging seemingly OP characters, and since amnesia/shrinking both lead to cool plot developments, it doesn’t bother me. Kill the powerscaler in your head, stories aren’t fighting games.

@Itay20052 @fatattativa You seem to be suggesting the story is bad if Subaru encounters any personal challenge or setback, which isn’t really how storytelling works. Especially when he overcomes all of these and single-handedly saves the world several times over.
