@mktoon I'm good with all of them going. The possible exception is BND, but that's only bc I haven't seen it and the other Holland Spidey movies have been okay for the most part. The Young Justice ep "Alienated" portrayed Superman more effectively in five minutes than that whole movie.
@therightram ... while I appreciate Nolan's focus on sincerity, I don't know that most fans were in a position to judge him by that motivation. We just liked a well-crafted film. We're not privy to the director's motivation. Sometimes that motivation can show in a film but not always.
@therightram Firstly and most importantly, your point is 100% spot on. To be fair, though, sticking to your own vision can make it really difficult to be successful in creative media like comics and movies, until your particular vision lines up with the zeitgeist and BOOM.
That said,...
@jpalmiotti@aj_was_annoying I think Rebel Scum meant "shoe horning" not "you horning".
I agree that the way that the movie included BoP was a disservice to both them and Harley. BoP ultimately felt like a superficial add-on with zero-to-minimal character development and the spotlight on Harley was reduced.
@ATRightMovies Dark Knight had some really intriguing ideas, compelling performances, and a lot of great moments but takes a downward turn at the end with some silly flourishes and a too mopey Batman. DKR should have worked better than it did but it huge, glaring flaws.
@ATRightMovies Interesting! Blade Runner as a visual inspiration for Batman makes a ton of sense. I don't know why that connection hasn't been made before.
@mooreonzach Is it just me or is Yoda - I'm talking from ESB shot 46 years ago - so much more convincing than Grogu? It's not even the personality. The way they move, their general appearance, it's like Grogu happened forty years before Yoda, not after.
@ATRightMovies Was there a reason US Steel was looking at giant mechanical walkers or was that just something fun for the company Christmas card?
Also, that rear turret on the AT-AT makes a lot of sense.
@ATRightMovies I'm not sure if Lando was intended to be the smooth and cool rogue or whether Williams just bought that to the role. If it was the intention, however, then Williams was definitely the better choice. With Kotto, Lando would have definitely come across more as an edgier crime boss.
@ATRightMovies ...with the other two. III is fun, but it's just such a departure from the first two.
LotR isn't old enough to be a classic. Also, it didn't change film the way SW did. Additionally, its stature doesn't loom as large as SW bc there was a lot like it at the time, e.g., Potter.
@ATRightMovies Star Wars. It set the model for the modern blockbuster movie trilogy. There's also a interconnectedness there that makes it a trilogy rather than just three movies that feature the same characters, i.e., Indiana Jones and BttF. BttF III especially seems out of place...
