Georgian government introduced an initiative for funding system of NGOs. Since March to recent protest I am advocating that the protest should target GD government with this !! Millions of people witnessed and supported the idea - but ngo and political parties media never articulated it . It’s a shame that Donors put whole civil society into this absurd hole and now the government is introducing it . Something that should be asked / protested from the very first day GD introduced the bill.

In 1992 , US state Secretary James Baker visited Georgia and became an honorary member of militia “mkhedrioni” - which overthrew 84% elected government , contributed in escalating ethnoconflicts in Georgia . Couple of months ago , before baker’s visit - mkhedrioni killed 30 demonstrators from 300 000 k rally against the coup . @LeftEast1 @jacobin that’s how statedeps neoliberal project in Caucasus was established - Shevardnadze, Eltzin both as chosen leaders by the west - not by democracy.

You heard and know many coups organized by USA . Did you know we had one in Georgia ? after break of Soviet Union, like Russian Parlaiment, Georgian President and Parlaiment elected by 86% vote - opposed “shock therapy” . Western media declared him as “Sadam Hussein of Caucasus” - but the real colonial washing is that many Georgians still don’t know even Eltzin was US puppet . This THE most important chapter in Georgian history is really well hidden in western media / academia too - CIA labeled all of this as “ethnic-Centrist Georgians went crazy” . One of the leader of the coup , Mr. Sigua says in a recording - US Embassador was visiting and he gave Geo government letter that if they don’t start rapid privatization asap US will turn its back. Later they applauded Shevardnadze - all the time . All shock no therapy . Up until today . #georgia #history #coup #Russia #CIA
