Can you pass the acid test?
the very first time the Warlocks performed under the name the #GratefulDead was at an Acid Test at a house on 5th Street in San Jose, on December 4, 1965. The house was a short walk from the San Jose Civic Audit., where the #RollingStones were playing
“San Jose was the first public Acid Test in 1965. It was a complete blowout -- manic bash. Nobody forgot it-- It was cataclysmic! The band played, everybody got high, weird and strange. LSD was legal then and people were taking high doses. Some people took their clothes off and it spilled out into the street.” – Mountain Girl
The @RollingStones were at the San Jose Civic that night, and when their show let out, the Pranksters were waiting outside with hand-drawn flyers reading CAN YOU PASS THE ACID TEST? along with an address. The band wasn’t advertised or announced, but anyone who asked “who is the band” would have been told the @GratefulDead. That was 60 years ago today, and the first night they played under that name.
It was the night this long strange trip really began. Everyone has their own “first Dead show.” What’s the story of yours?

Happy #RickDankoFashionFriday!
On July 28, 1973, Summer Jam at Watkins Glen, New York, reunited The Band, The Grateful Dead and The Allman Brothers. With a crowd of 600 000 people, it was the largest gathering for a rock festival, even bigger than Woodstock.
