Hello new cricket related followers! if i dont follow bakc please dont worry it's not me being rude, you go in to my cricket list on here so easier to see all tweets together. I do hope this place lasts, if not see you on threads I guess
well the Test is over but new books for @HomeOfCricket library keep on coming, two latest from @Cricket_Books one by Martin himself on a Roses match in 1874, the other by Stephen Musk and on Johnny Lester, a Brit who moved to Philadelphia & made a name for himself as a cricketer
Love the title of this book (great 60's song) although doesn't feel like summer today, a look at cricket in Portsmouth 100 years ago, produced by Dave Allen and the Hampshire Cricket Heritage team
Fortunately not too late for me to post our display on @BLACKCAPS cricket in @HomeOfCricket museum, featuring items from their first tour of UK in 1927, 2nd oldest book on New Zealand cricket, Lord's scorecard of 1st Test in UK 1931, Glenn Turners bat & Richard Hadlee's sweatband
@pbarkersport i know not the same thing but @ACScricket have started and international women’s cricket year book, but something more comprehensive could be Raf Nicholson's next project, Women's Cricket History website and think ACS has something too
A few years back I'm sure @ACScricket compiled a statistical history with scorecards of all women's tests. Would be great if full scores of all major matches were set down in printed volume to ensure a permanent record though might be difficult to achieve.
My pleasure to have visit from @ACScricket during the Test although we do have new carpet since these photos were taken, and partial new lighting. Nice to remember what it looked like when i started @HomeOfCricket so long ago now
It was lovely for @ACScricket to meet @archivist_al in the @HomeOfCricket library who tends a wonderful collection of cricket books and magazines. Like the Louvre there is only so much that can be shown at any one time. Well worth a visit for any cricket fan. #cricketcounts
To continue marking @HomeOfCricket 150th Test here are some items from notable Lord's Tests, Gooch's 333 bat in 1990, the ball from Bob Massie's first innings in 1972, Dickie Bird's cap from his final Test & Bradman's 1930 bat, what he considered his finest innings
As guaranteed previously a copy of Women in Whites by @RafNicholson was waiting on my desk @HomeOfCricket library on my return, if looking for a book on history of women's cricket in England, this would be a great start
You may have noticed its @HomeOfCricket 150th Test including articles by @Athersmike@scyldberry & Andy Bull, here is the England team for our first Test in 1884, & how Lord's looked in mid 1880's: one painted from sight of 1885 Varsity match & our famous imaginary cricket match
@pbarkersport@TheCricketerMag nice to actually have a story of that visit, I cant find anything in the archives about who/how it was arranged or any details during the day, just a small selection of intriguing photos
Its been out a while but Ive been away & great to see latest @TheCricketerMag which features Sobers in 66, where Muhammad Ali visited the Windies dressing room v MCC, @pbarkersport on Father Time @ 100 & following my previous post; India, NZ & WI seemingly joining ICC in 1926
Was great to help @gulu1959 with research for the below article on India joining the then Imperial Cricket Conference, the minutes rather left it open ended on the exact nature and details of their joining, causing a bit of confusion and frustration on my part
A fascinating look at a little-known chapter in cricket history.
100 years ago, India's first appearance at the Imperial Cricket Conference (now the ICC) was made not by Indian administrators, but by two Englishmen representing the Calcutta Cricket Club. That seemingly small moment helped set India on the path to becoming cricket's global powerhouse.

You may have seen @RafNicholson article in Guardian yesterday on her new book, folks have been in touch offering to get us a copy, can confirm its on order & should be on my desk when I return next week! Our women's section has grown since her 2011 visit but hoping it grows more
The great writer of Guyanese cricket Clem Seecharan has just published his latest book in his series of the game in Guyana, a worthy addition to anyone interested in the history of cricket in the West Indies @HomeOfCricket#cricketbooks
Following on from yesterday its Arthur Conan Doyle's birthday today, one of the best cricketing authors, appearing in 10 first-classes for MCC, took wicket of WG Grace & scored a century for Authors v Press. Below: His century bat, Grace wicket scorecard & sketch of him at Lord's
Been looking forward to receiving a copy of this for @HomeOfCricket library for a while, from helping with a PhD, to journal articles & now a book! On the history of @AuthorsCC & literary cricketers @FairfieldBooks_ we also have a display in pavilion on writers featured
