Arc

the team behind Arc is now shipping @diabrowser

[Arc @arcinternet]

We've decided to sunset Arc on December 22, 2026.

That's not an easy sentence to write. We spent years building Arc and celebrating each and every release along the way: we have so much pride and love for what we made alongside the Arc community.

Our priority is to deliver best-in-class security for our members. Keeping a browser secure takes constant, dedicated work that is only increasing in the age of AI. Dia was built from the ground up to meet today’s security standards, so that's where our engineering and security teams will focus moving forward.

We've worked to make switching to @diabrowser as easy as possible for Arc members. Here's how:

· Your passwords, bookmarks, extensions and history come over to Dia seamlessly.
· Spaces, Folders, and Tab Groups are in Dia and import over with your data intact.
· Dia now surpasses Arc benchmarks in stability, speed, and security.
· The browser features you use in Arc are free in Dia, and the AI is optional.

Thank you for using Arc, for pushing us to make it better, and for building alongside us. The team that made Arc is the same team behind Dia, and some of our most ambitious work is just ahead. We'd love for you to be there with us when it lands.

As part of this acquisition, we’ll be bringing some of Arc browser’s “greatest hits” to Dia.

Think: CMD-S to hide the sidebar (Focus Mode) and special integrations with GitHub, etc.

What do you miss most from Arc that we should consider bringing over after the deal closes?

[Arc @arcinternet]

We’re growing Dia, our AI browser.
With Atlassian’s support, we’ll bring Dia to more platforms, weave in the workflows you love in Arc, and push AI browsing further. Dia is here for you if you're curious (sign up anytime with your Arc email!).

You may have heard the news! @browsercompany has entered into an agreement to be acquired by $TEAM.

Here’s what it means for our Arc Members like you:
- Arc and Arc Search will continue to exist
- Same team, same way of building
- We’re growing Dia, our AI browser

[The Browser Company @browsercompany]

Today, The Browser Company of New York is entering into an agreement to be acquired by Atlassian for $610M in an all-cash transaction.

Same team, same way of building.
We’ll keep our NYC HQ, culture, creativity, and heartfelt intensity. Only difference is we now have more support to go further, faster.

The @browsercompany team is going rogue, I’m losing control:

Renaming tab titles — a fan favorite in @arcinternet — coming to @diabrowser soon!

(@Connor taking advantage of his veteran status on the team to ship as a nights & weekends project because he loves you all so much)

[Arc @arcinternet]

@diabrowser Dia browser is now available from @browsercompany for all Arc members.

Vertical tabs in @diabrowser make it feel like AI chat and a web browser actually fused together.

There’s something natural about having your browser tabs right next to your AI chats in a sidebar.

Rolling out in a week or two! Don’t worry, it’s just an option in Settings.

Building @charliedeets's design for a sidebar option in @diabrowser.

We’re torn: should we ship it?

I wrote about @arcinternet:

1. What happened to Arc browser?
2. Will we open source Arc?
3. Why not pursue AI within Arc?
4. What’s the point of Dia?

And more! Essay in next tweet.

Thx for being patient. We wanted to be very open & honest. Took time to express it clearly…

Not everyone loved our Arc Search on Android designs in the beginning...

@chrstnerode walks us through some of the ups and downs of designing specifically for Android ahead of our GA launch next week!

[Josh Miller @joshm]

The @browsercompany board meeting is this week. Good moment to pause & reflect.

We've nearly quadrupled daily actives so far this year, and brought Arc to iOS, Windows, and Android.

In a few weeks, we'll share a video update on what to expect from 2.0. Grateful for you all <3
