Dr. King was assassinated 54 years today while supporting striking Black sanitation workers (AFSCME Local 1733) in Memphis. Dr. King was also in the process of organizing the Poor People's Campaign--a national mobilization of a multiracial coalition for economic justice

The Senate is debating a bill sent over from the House that will prohibit cities to zone fireworks. This would allow a pop-up fireworks stand in the middle of downtown Des Moines and give the city no say over whether that is a hazard to be near a highly populated area.
