i finally watched barbie with my mom after we had both seen it 3 times and she still cried during this monologue. and i cried because she cried. she is 60 and just now learning her worth.

this monologue gets a lot of criticism, and rightfully so. the events of the movie leading up to it don't really earn it and it's such a basic entry into feminist ideas. then you read tho about women leaving abusive partners after hearing it and it's clear how necessary it was.
