The fact that females are "allowed" to convey pain more culturally seems to lead somehow (certainly subconsciously, most of the moment) to a contrasting stereotype that females falsely inflate their pain or too easily seek medical care.#gndr1000

@lynelle_mercer I think it’s also clearly rooted in gender stereotypes that view men as stoic and women as more emotional when experiencing pain or other worrisome symptoms.

@holly_stuckey Agree,The fashion industry does play a part, considering that designers will work with really skinny models because they serve as "hangers". The outfits you will see on the runways are all the same size, so all models must fit in them.

@Briannaelsie_ Because also the media takes advantage of people's insecurities and tries to send out the message that "if you use our product you can look like this (shows picture of hot guy or girl)". Then we get saturated by these images, and people start to think that everyone has be one.

Why people have an unrealistic expectation of beauty, is because if you identify each physical feature of a person, in the eyes of the media, it is their job to enhance it, wether it is larger eyes or breasts, more tanned skin. #gndr1000

@Alexand16796271 As well, the government is starting to recognize that housing and water supplies on many reserves is woefully inadequate because previous governments did not live up to the terms of the treaties they signed.
