after using, this is the way forward. but... I’m gonna wait for someone to make a self hosted version w/ feature parity. I’m not dumping my passwords or any meaningful data into a personal agent owned by X lol
Introducing Grok Bot, now in early beta.
Bots are AI teammates that do real work for you. They sign in to your tools, use them just like you do, and come back with finished work.
🇹🇼 Taiwan also feels relatively undocumented online, one of the best weekends I've had in Asia (and only a 4hr flight from SG!)
favs were ≈ elephant mountain, taking the night gondola to a tea farm, jiufen at sunset, and cks memorial / liberty square
Predictably the history was amazing, and a great juxtaposition w/ China from a month ago! highly recommend lining up both. Def going back in nov for Alishan
That's why I say to every single person I meet
You have to book a flight to China now, please visit some of its cities, and NOT Hong Kong or even Shenzhen
No visit ACTUAL China, go to Shanghai, Hangzhou, Chongqing, Chengdu, Beijing, Xi'an
Ask Chinese people on here before you visit if you can visit their offices, they'll take you out for dinner and show their immense hospitality
You and the other 1.6 billion people of the West all have a blind spot and have to understand this country to go forward in the 21st century and the only way to do so is to actually go there and walk around there
Be brave and change your flight for Tokyo to a flight to Shanghai!
Japan is sick of you tourists anyway, while in China you'll be the only tourist in a 100km2 radius!
March Recap: Progress slowed a bit since I had to step away for health reasons, but we still pulled in $94K placing YTD revenue at $210k.
We’re moving forward on acquiring a competitor that could unlock access to 20M+ of our target users. If we nail partnerships and play it right, there’s a path to $10M+ (albeit at lower margins). a lot of work and luck is needed tho.
Q2 will likely remain steady as we finalize the deal
I’m more convinced than ever that bootstrapping is the only choice for consumer "startups" (id argue most are really just indie). We keep this running with just a few hours a week. Pre-seed used to buy you engineering leverage / buy out your time. But with Claude code & Windsurf that is ambient now. Curious to see how VC will adapt to present value
Tech has decided that regulation is the enemy of progress, but innovation requires capital
Regulation builds the trust necessary to inject billions into markets
To enable free innovation, Andera raised a $37M series A led by Lightspeed to scale financial oversight with agents
SF is so bullish abt the future but cynical about the ppl building it, the worst offenders are new grads/interns. Every time a startup comes up I feel like I always hear something along the lines of “yeah i’ve heard of [x unicorn], they’re not cooking though… right?”
Ppl are so prescriptive to the point I have to assume they’re justifying their job or why they aren’t founding / zuckerberg. It’s lowkey the worst part of SF culture right now
Ah, that changes things. wonder if there are any performance losses not using stripe subscriptions (less data for disputes, higher rate of off session payments being declined, etc.) Is autumn a layer above stripe subscriptions or payments? Could be interesting if you could provide the control to build subscriptions above payments at your current or similar pricing. I don’t see 0.7% as the market’s long term equilibrium, it feels more like a function of vendor lock-in and inelastic demand within the Stripe ecosystem for now
