@sweatybikeman @whatotherplanet @kvnrogan A bit telling that SF has 20,000 unhoused people and Baltimore has 2,000 - even though SF isn't even twice as big. There are rents for $750 in one of these cities and the other has only expensive rents.

But people are homeless do not become destitute overnight. 40% live in their cars. 25% have jobs of some type. For most there is a transition period to get footing under them.

I dont know impact of a single e-mail, but have to think one with detailed info like this to the bureaucrats is actually quite a bit more leverage for more housing than most other methods Ive tried.

I would imagine that more funding of all housing services would result in more government funded/or government subsidized SROs being built. But we need zoning to change first otherwise they will be blocked as they are in SF.

When I lived in NYC I walked to work so didn't have to take it that much. But when I did I would often get on car (where cell service didnt exist) and there was only one map which was placed behind a seat.

@stan_okl Not in academia now but this is always a tension in writing. Some people may truly care about every single detail of your study while others only big picture while others care only about one section.

I feel like having an abstract and summary section already accomplishes this?

@OchotonaR @xenocryptsite yeah I think this is an ok approximation but its a bit messy though since some non-profit workers truly do bring in a lot of value for society but capture little of it through salary. and other administrators make bank, essentially rent seeking, while adding little.

@biggestgenius @td_dion @sam_d_1995 The population of Cape Coral has gone from 10k to 195k in 50 years. Population of Florida has gone from 3M to 20M since 1950.

I'm not saying these people are literally all from NYC - but it does absorb a lot of people from other states, especially expensive cities.
