The alternate history begins when Munhyo, Jeongjo’s eldest son and the child of Royal Consort Uibin Seong ascends the throne at age 19. In drama, this fictional Joseon dynasty continues through Munhyo’s line into 21st century. In this timeline, there is no Japanese colonial period or Korean War and 1945 the year of liberationis instead marked as the year the constitutional monarchy was proclaimed. The main difference from real history is that Munhyo actually died of measles at age 3. This connects to the story portrayed in MBC’s 2021 drama The Red Sleeve, where Royal Consort Uibin Seong lost her son Munhyo in 1786 and subsequently fell ill and died that same year.

Pese a que la historia de Philoise en la temporada 5 será bastante distinta a la del libro, si Shonda dice que será "super romántica", entonces mantendrán el detalle de Phillip con las notitas dispersadas en la casa y los pétalos de flores, porque es el peak del ROMANTICISMO.
