An immeasurable loss for the Brewers family and for mine. Ueck was a constant source of joy, laughter and love throughout the 20 years since we met. He had the supernatural ability to make the mundane sound fascinating (see video). The term ‘GOAT’ is thrown around a lot, but he truly was the greatest of all time on the mic and one of the greatest people of all time off it. I’ll never forget how proud I was to introduce him to my daughter - he was adamant about spending time with her before what ended up being the last game he ever called. The way he lit up when he held her despite how difficult a time he was having will always stick with me. I’ll always remember the bond he had with my late grandfather, the constant stream of jokes they cracked together. He was one of my dad’s best friends. He always made fun of my mom for how nervous she’d get during games, but he made her laugh about it, which always calmed her down. His ability to connect with all people of all ages was so unique and special. There will never be another Ueck.
I wrote out some thoughts on how to make this moment a real turning point to bring about real change––and pulled together some resources to help young activists sustain the momentum by channeling their energy into concrete action. https://t.co/jEczrOeFdv
Some good news: states that started social distancing early and aggressively, like California, have avoided overwhelmed health care systems. It’s critical that we continue to listen to the evidence and experts and practice social distancing. https://t.co/56RgGeAfr7
