After Cambodian soldiers extended a hand of peace under a ceasefire agreement, they were surrounded and captured. Nineteen were taken. One escaped. Two may have been killed.

This was not war it was an ambush disguised as diplomacy.

Cluster bombs are considered inherently indiscriminate and violate international humanitarian law when used in civilian areas:

• Convention on Cluster Munitions (2008): Bans the use, production, transfer, and stockpiling of cluster bombs. Over 120 countries have joined D C.
• Indiscriminate Attacks: International law prohibits attacks that cannot distinguish between military targets and civilians E F.
• War Crime Potential: Using cluster bombs in populated areas can constitute a war crime, especially when civilians are harmed E G.
• Long-Term Danger: Unexploded bomblets pose risks for years or decades, especially to children and farmers D H.
