Pick any medical specialty other than your own. Who’s the most famous physician in it? You probably can’t name one.
Almost none of us will be known outside our field, and even those who achieve real professional fame are mostly forgotten within a few decades.
Fame is a poor reason to devote your life to medicine. The work itself matters more: caring for patients, discovering new knowledge, and teaching the next generation.
India the Perennial Soft State
The decision to let American covert operative Matthew VanDyke and six Ukrainian drone specialists quietly leave India is more than an isolated legal reversal. It belongs to a long and uncomfortable tradition in which New Delhi invokes its tough criminal laws and then retreats when geopolitical pressure builds up.
VanDyke, a veteran of covert wars in the Middle East and Ukraine, was arrested in March alongside six military-trained Ukrainian partners. According to Indian court filings, the group belonged to a larger international network that smuggled drones into India before routing them onward to Myanmar. The National Investigation Agency initially invoked the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, India’s premier anti-terrorism statute.
Then came the dramatic climbdown. After U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio personally raised VanDyke’s detention with New Delhi, the NIA dropped the UAPA charges. VanDyke and all six Ukrainians have now been released on bail and permitted to return home.
The episode recalls a familiar pattern. From the Bhopal gas disaster and the Purulia arms-drop affair to the Enrica Lexie Italian-marines case and Ottavio Quattrocchi’s escape in the Bofors scandal, India has repeatedly seen high-profile criminal proceedings against foreign nationals or entities diluted, abandoned or rendered inconsequential under diplomatic or strategic pressure.
Different cases, different Indian governments, but the same question endures: What makes India such a soft state that it so often fails to enforce accountability when powerful foreign interests are involved?
@Rishabh2970 Not only that.. those crores worth machine are spoiled by operators within a month as they get commission from pvt players.. the warranty support is so expensive that companies are not interested to sell them...
Imagine 12 crore worth MRI machine spoiled for comission of ₹20k
Every Radiologist working in a govt hospital knows about this.
You talk to a vendor from Philips, GE, Siemens- They’ll tell you upfront that govt rates for machines are higher compared to general market.
While talks of inflated comsumables in pvt hospitals are the talk of X, nobody talks about the scam in govt hospitals regarding procuring medical equipment at HIGHLY inflated prices.
Radiology machines are procured at 3X market price for corruption.

Who would believe that this is Badrinath. And some idiots replying on this are saying that this is good for GDP. How crass and how ill informed. Will the custodians of Hindutva stand up and speak against this commercialization at one of our most sacred dhams.
Gentle Reminder :
Congress leader Mewaram Jain, who was expelled from the Congress party for having sex with two minor girls on camera, which went viral, has been reinstated in the party.
This is how Congress smashes patriarchy!!
There's a REASON why evn Shankh is forbidden in Badrinath Dham. That place has its own sanctity. And nw? DJs are blasting there. Club style music has a time & place. A sacred Teerth is NOT it. This govt's obsession to make every Dham a picnic spot is ruining the soul of Devbhumi.
Let’s say Reliance launches Chaat stalls
Through monetary muscle they will destroy all chat sellers in India who would either sell shops or work for Reliance
It’s an enslavement. Same what East India Company did. Destroyed indigenous businesses
We are yet to recover from it
Elon Musk is attempting to colonise Mars
This dude is attempting to monopolise icecream sector
Look at the poverty of his vision
Govt should restrict huge industrialists from entering sectors where they aren’t needed
He is Indian version of East India Company 🤦🏽♂️
The ECI story is the biggest sign that bureaucracy is reconnecting with media and giving news from inside the government. Happened in every transition period in the past. Happening again.
90% of patients in our OPD: 😂
Indian patient at follow-up:
“Doctor, I am not better.” 😐
And then begins the detective work… 🕵️♂️
Because we have to probe again… and again… and AGAIN to finally extract the complete story. 😂
After 5 minutes of questioning:
“Actually, I am 70–80% better than before…
My medicines finished weeks ago…
I stopped them when I felt better…
I didn’t really do any lifestyle changes…
And now some symptoms have come back.” 😂
Doctor:
“So… you WERE better?” 👀
Patient:
“Technically… yes. But currently, I am NOT better.” 😌
State rejects compensation to Vishnu Tiwari on 'Humanitarian grounds'. In a reply to National Human Rights Commission, the UP govt says spending 20 years in jail in a false case of the SC-ST act was not the case for Human rights violations.
How? By filing cases under the "Atrocious" Act against erudite professors in premier institutions for preventing "young talent" from cheating in examinations.
