It is hard to describe how offensive this was. Bret Stephens’ @nytimes@nytopinion column on @NYCMayor’s statement on the 3rd anniversary of #October7 is required reading:

Taylor Weintraub is a lifelong Democrat. More importantly, she’s a Michigan mom. This year, for the first time ever, she’s voting for a Republican, Mike Rogers.
This ad by Democrats for Rogers will be run tonight during the debate. Listen to Taylor’s story ⬇️⬇️
Pro-Hamas Jihadi terrorists in New York City disrupted a peaceful vigil that was supposed to be about common empathy, humanity, peace, and solidarity to commemorate October 7 and all lives lost to chant for Hamas, Intifada, chaos, and war, while displaying images of their icon & hero, Yahya Sinwar. These modern day brownshirts can't stand the sight of Jews or Israelis, no matter how conciliatory or declaratively anti-Zionist, having any space to express grief or exist in public spaces.
If you're a New York Jew who is upset about Mamdani's statement, register for the Democratic party and show up in the next primary to vote against him. I didn't see many Jews waiting in line with me last time.
If you want politicians to care, vote.
On a routine basis, Diaspora supporters of Israel publicly condemn Ben-Gvir, Smotrich, and Netanyahu. They also routinely condemn the horrible behavior of West Bank settler vigilantes.
The fact that a prominent pro-Palestinian activist can't do the same thing when asked about Hamas, a genocidal, nihilistic, terrorist organization, speaks to the gaping chasm between the two sides.
Pro-Palestinian activists won't condemn Hamas because, ultimately, they believe any "armed resistance" against Israel is justified -- and they refuse to ever surrender the victim card.
When people like @afalkhatib, whose family lives in Gaza, publicly criticize Hamas for the 10/7 attack but also for its mistreatment of Palestinians in Gaza, they are vilified. Why?
Because Hamas and the Palestinians shall never be criticized ... and there is a cottage industry of pro-Palestinian activists who will vigilantly enforce this rule.
It's infantilizing to Palestinians, but it's also evidence of an activist community that is hopelessly immature, unwilling to confront uncomfortable truths. And in refusing to criticize Hamas and in their unceasing use of whataboutist arguments to defend their actions, all they are doing is empowering the most extremist elements in Palestinian society.
It says everything you need to know about the malign influence of anti-Semitism on the Democratic Party: that taking money from AIPAC, a group made up of American citizens, is considered a cardinal sin while cozying up to the Qataris, who spend hundreds of millions trying to gain influence in the US is not even controversial.
Senator Murphy is a useful idiot for Qatar. The people who shriek about AIPAC money do not care that Qatar spends orders of magnitude more on buying politicians and universities.
On October 7, Hamas terrorists stormed Nahal Oz and massacred Jewish civilians.
They broke into the Idan home and murdered Maayan, who had just turned 18 in front of her siblings and parents.
Her father, Tsachi, was then kidnapped to Gaza and murdered in captivity

Passengers of the FlyDubai flight on the way to Israel sing “And the main thing is—not to be afraid at all”:
180 people who came within a hair’s breadth of a terrible end.
Today I wrote about the musicality of Jewish survival: Why the returning Israeli passengers sang what they sang, why certain songs have become Israeli anthems of hope and resilience post-Oct. 7, and the deeper meaning of it all https://t.co/3lxrDLYkey
Every time Mamdani says he wants Jewish New Yorkers to be “celebrated” I want to punch a wall.
We’re not 5-year-olds at our birthday party. We just want a mayor who doesn’t put us in danger
