Cole Allen is the Dunning-Kruger Assassin.
Allen is not some random nut job from the fringes of society. He’s a very articulate graduate of Caltech, which means he has a high degree of native intelligence. He’s in the education profession. He is on BlueSky. He goes to No Kings protests. He’s your basic rank-and-file Democrat.
But it’s that high native intellect that led him astray.
The Dunning-Kruger Effect is, at its simplest level, people thinking they know more that they do. People who are high achievers in one area often mistakenly believe their native abilities make them experts in all areas.
So you get a super-smart guy like Allen, he excels in one narrow area, and extrapolates that excellence into thinking he knows more than he does in other areas. He goes into Blue Sky, he goes to No Kings protests, and he is easily swayed into believing all of the insane, violent lies those sorts of intellectual cesspools foster. All of a sudden this computer science expert is a national political policy expert too, except that latter expertise is derived from insane propaganda. The man with the intellectual skill to write code is not smart enough to recognize when he himself has fallen prey to propaganda, so he KNOWS that Donald Trump is Hitler and must be stopped.
And when you KNOW that someone is Hitler, what’s the right thing to do?
That’s what is so scary at this very moment—the sheer number of ostensibly educated Democrats who KNOW so many things are “true" that are actually so very, very untrue.
In many ways, Cole Allen is just an average Democrat, and like most average Democrats, he fell prey to credentialism and Dunning-Kruger. But Cole took it to the next level; let’s pray more do not.
I love how people will skip right past the rather mundane notion that actual humans coordinate events and deceptions in favor of the theory that a cosmic supercomputer is simulating our very existence.
Kind of lets the bad guys off the hook.
Hilaire Belloc on historical memory:
“We sit by and watch the barbarian, we tolerate him; in the long stretches of peace we are not afraid. We are tickled by his irreverence; his comic inversion of our old certitudes and our fixed creeds refreshes us; we laugh. But as we laugh we are watched by large and awful faces from beyond: and on these faces there is no smile. We have forgotten what they remember.”
BREAKING: NYC rewrote its elite high school admissions criteria in 2019 to reserve 20% of seats using eligibility rules carefully designed to exclude Asian American students. Yesterday, we filed suit to stop the City from engineering admissions outcomes by race.

2 years ago today, Samourai Wallet devs, Bill & Keonne, were arrested in multi-national raids. This is part of an on-going effort to trample your right to privacy, without which there is no freedom. Some of you can see the trajectory clearly & I thank you for speaking out.
The Pendragon Foundation is a new organisation set up by those managing the @CorncrakeMag who are totally dedicated to reviving not only England's Cultural Legacy/Heritage but that of Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
They have been hard at work gathering resources, connections and doing what they can to support artists, and buildings throughout the British Isles (and in some cases throughout the Anglosphere).
A curious but influential group little discussed but worth knowing about. (I have eccentric interests, as should be clear now.)

"I want to send my baby pictures right to my mom's computer, and that's it. I just want my computer to have the baby pictures, and then when her computer is ready, she can download them onto her computer."
"I don't want a middleman, or anybody searching through the pixels and all that. And it's not even a privacy thing; it's just from a sanity, direct connection perspective. I want to be in a computer world that acts like actual reality, not this really unfortunate thing that we've set up. So yeah, we have to rewrite it so we can reclaim that serving part of our computers."

BREAKING: China has officially declared George Soros a ‘Global Terrorist’ — and said that he is “the son of Satan and the most evil person in the World.”
This is huge!
At this late in the game, when Catholics publicly criticize Trump for not being pro-life enough, there may be many *theoretical* outcomes to that (for example, good conversations on the social-reign of Christ the King) but the only *practical* outcome will be Catholics in swing-States refraining from voting, which is tantamount to a vote for Kamala Harris.
The fact is if Trump hasn't gained a fear of God after two assassination attempts, Catholics complaining on social media aren't going to make him more pro-life. Yet we still have to play the cards we're dealt at this point in Church history and American history. This is probably done by voting.
As I write this chapter on Schelling's 'Grundlegung,' I have been closely juxtaposing this work with Heidegger's Intro to Metaphysics, & his response to the question "Why is there something rather than nothing." Schelling's response to the question
is miles beyond Heidegger.
The Old Man of the Earth stooped over the floor of the cave, raised a huge stone, and left it leaning. It disclosed a great hole that went plumb-down.
“That is the way,” he said.
“But there are no stairs.”
“You must throw yourself in. There is no other way.”
