The closer you look at Popovic, the more impressive his last season looks.
Solid reflexes and effective when leaving the box. At 25 years old there’s plenty of value potential and maybe even a source of competition for Tzolakis.

Balsa Popovic comes to us as a backup following an impressive season in Serbia.
Wyscout ranks Popovic as the top keeper in the Serbian league for the 25/26 season. With the 2nd highest shots against, Popovic managed to make enough saves to prevent over 12 additional goals for OFK Beograd.
This is a quality backup to have.

The mental gymnastics of some people are wild. If you’ve been complaining about Mendi getting his picks you cannot be upset that he’s getting what he wants.
This has been expected since December.
The renewal we have been expecting since December is official.
Dani Garcia will remain with the club for an additional season. He has been one of Mendi's trusted players when things get tough.

Seven years of heart, sacrifice and loyalty to the red and white jersey.
When Shaquielle McKissic arrived in Piraeus in 2020, nobody could have imagined the bond that would be created between a player, a city and a fanbase. Through victories, defeats, celebrations, injuries, Final Fours and unforgettable nights at SEF, one thing never changed:
Shaq was always there.
Always ready to fight.
Always ready to run through a wall for the team.
Always ready to give every last ounce of energy for the coach, his teammates and the people in the stands..
He quickly became “Shaq Attack”!
The longest-serving foreign player in Olympiacos basketball history. One of the greatest Americans ever to represent this club. A player whose passion and energy could ignite an arena and whose commitment never wavered, no matter the role, no matter the challenge.
He gave us moments we’ll never forget.
Dunks and transition plays running down hill that shook SEF - from day one!!
Defence that inspired teammates.
Emotion that embody what it means to play for Olympiacos.
But more than anything, he gave us loyalty.
In an era where players come and go, McKissic stayed. He chose Olympiacos again and again. And in return, Olympiacos became his home.
All good things come to an end.
But some relationships are too special to ever truly end.
Thank you for every hustle play.
Thank you for every dunk.
Thank you for every battle.
Thank you for seven unforgettable seasons.
Once a Red. Always a Red.
❤️🤍 @smck40
Seven seasons.
One jersey.
One home.

@SpyrosPl370 That still doesn’t invalidate duel win rates or possession adjusted stats.
But ideally you are correct. Just takes longer for me to put together as I have ti manually count individual successes vs him as an individual.
Still doesn’t speak to his profile and thoughts on bad fit
Based on what’s being written, you get the feeling that we’re moving closer to signing Mendilibar’s preferred backup RCB, Domingos Duarte.
Outside of his aerial ability, there isn’t much that stands out for this player.
Maybe when we look deeper the outlook changes, but as it stands it would be a disappointment if we lose out on a younger project with potential like Smajlovic and move to a Mendi-preferred Spanish veteran like Duarte.

Since the announcement we keep getting asked about how this will impact FFP/FSR.
The short answer is, it does not.
Stadium reconstruction costs are not included in those figures, but in the future if the debt from financing the reconstruction are not honored then we would have issues.

Olympiacos has taken the first step toward the “New Karaiskakis,” a €250M+ privately funded redevelopment that will expand capacity beyond 50,000 seats and create Greece’s largest, most modern football stadium.
Olympiacos's team of technical consultants and architects presented the proposal today. It was unanimously approved by Piraeus’ Municipal Council.
Previously it was reported that the new expansion would be done in the style of San Mames, so here's an AI concept rendering!

Newly promoted side Kalamata is securing loans for 2 of Olympiacos's academy products. (@sport24)
19 year old box to box midfielder Argyrios Liatsikouras and 18 year old winger/AM Erik Hamza look to be joining Kalamata on loan for the coming season.
Liatsikouras's loan has been coming for awhile since we reported months ago that the player was not rated by Mendilibar. Erik Hamza's loan is a more of a surprise.
Hopefully both players get significant minutes this season.

Turkish government is afraid of gay people is this a joke?
Even with Greece’s low media freedom Turkey ranks lower and has LESS media freedom.
You lose again
Hilarious because even though Greece is the least free press in Europe it still measures higher than Turkey in every measure of democracy
Have to keep the uneducated trolls honest.
Greece, which has been an EU member state for decades, ranks last that is, 27th among the 27 EU member states in terms of freedoms and democracy! Since the concepts of democracy and freedom do not exist in Greece, it is in no position to lecture a country that is not an EU member state!
