MBBS interns in Jammu & Kashmir are being paid just ₹12,300/month.
That’s nearly ₹400 a day for handling emergencies, ICU duties, labour rooms, wards, night shifts, and brutal 24–36 hour duties.
One of the LOWEST intern stipends in India.
Meanwhile, states like Assam & West Bengal are paying ₹30,000+.
For 3 YEARS, promises of stipend hikes have been made.
For 3 YEARS, nothing has changed.
The system wants young doctors to work like machines, survive on peanuts, and stay silent.
Cheap labour in the name of “training” is exploitation.
Pay MBBS interns what they deserve.

Medicine is not a guaranteed outcome industry. Complications happen. Emergencies happen. Human limitations exist. Punishing grieving families of deceased doctors sends a chilling message to every healthcare worker in India:

Era Medical College lucknow—how long will this exploitation be ignored?

In the Dept of General Medicine, residents are being pushed into brutal 30–32 hour duties with NO proper rest, NO food, and not even the basic dignity of speaking to their families.

And it gets worse—residents are being forced to PAY for consultants’ personal expenses like breakfast. Imagine being overworked, sleep-deprived, unpaid in dignity—and still expected to sponsor your seniors.

This isn’t new. Complaints have been raised before. Nothing has changed.

How many more breaking points are needed before someone takes responsibility?

Overworked doctors = compromised patient care. This is not just a resident issue. This is a public safety crisis.

GMC Surat. New Civil Hospital.

R1 doctors are being pushed to 42-hour duties, 3 TIMES A WEEK — that’s 126 HOURS of continuous grind. No sleep. No recovery. No dignity.

And it gets worse.

TB ward postings where residents are not allowed to even go to their rooms to BATHE for 7 days straight.
For female doctors, this isn’t just exploitation — it’s outright inhuman.

What are they doing in these hours?
Not learning. Not treating critically ill patients.

➡️ Clerical work
➡️ File collection
➡️ Personal errands of seniors
➡️ Buying snacks for consultants (₹30–40K/month gone from THEIR pockets)

All while facing constant humiliation, harassment, and unrealistic expectations to function without food, sleep, or basic human needs.

How long will institutions like GMC Surat get away with treating doctors like disposable labour?

Enough is enough.

That was my non academic jrship salary in delhi just after my MBBS !!
Rather it was 1.32 lakh there

You should go for private practice for god sake this is not justified salary at any cost !

Super-speciality doctors in south India are being financially strangled.

In Karnataka:
➡️ SS govt seat fee: ₹2.25 lakh/year
➡️ Stipend: ₹70K/month in cities like Bangalore

In Tamil Nadu:
➡️ Stipend: ₹51–53K/month
➡️ Rent alone: ₹30K+

Private colleges? Fees ₹10–40 LAKHS, stipend still peanuts.

These are NOT students. These are highly trained doctors saving lives daily.

Many are married, supporting families — yet forced to depend on parents even after Masters.

Worked like machines in PG.
No savings.
Now super-speciality = financial punishment?

What kind of system expects doctors to survive — let alone grow — like this?

If we want to reduce toxicity , we need to ATTACK the reputation of the college/institute.
The kind of msgs i am getting from JR1’s makes my blood boil in anger

A structured attack is what we need
1. Send me your problem. I shall post without your name but highlighting the college/institute
2. Within a couple of
Hours, the college gets to know( prior posts had that effect)
3. They shall call you or your CO JR’s to intimidate you or to write an apology letter
4. Go ahead and do it. We have already won.
We are not here to erase toxicity in a single day, but to put fear in the minds of the consultant that someone is watching them and they shall think 10 times before ordering tea from a JR1 next time.

Junior doctors here are being pushed into 60-hour continuous shifts.

No sleep.
No meal breaks.
First meal at 4–5 PM.
Duty: 6 AM → next day 7 PM.

And the response?
“Adjust. This is how it is.”

MAMC has a rich and respected alumni in Delhi.
It only tarnishes its image among the medical community.
Maybe senior doctors from MAMC can raise voice.
Baaki college mein bhi hota argument is bogus. MAMC is prestigious.
