The left shoulder anchor tattoo on @imVkohli isn’t just ink.
He wasn’t just wearing an anchor, he was the anchor for Team India. ⚓🇮🇳
Watching the batting order crumble on the highlights today reminds you what that presence meant.
Missing that stability & intensity.
United World Wrestling (UWW) President Nenad Lalovic’s blatant double standards need to be exposed.
In the World Wrestling Championships in Paris in 2017, American wrestler Kyle Snyder, contesting in the 97 kg weight class, was disqualified in the finals for being overweight. The Unites States appealed against his disqualification and the same Nenad Lalovic, yes, the same Nenad Lalovic, personally reviewed Snyder's case and decided to reinstate him, allowing him to compete in the tournament. Snyder then went on to win the Gold, beating Russia’s Abdulrashid Sadulaev in the finals.
So Nenad Lalovic was lying through his teeth when said rules are rules and that even though Vinesh Phogat was overweight by a small margin, nothing could be done. Here’s the whole story.
Kyle Snyder, competing in the 97kg weight class, weighed in at 97.6kg, exceeding the allowed weight limit by 0.6kg (600 grams).
The United World Wrestling (UWW) officials disqualified Snyder due to the weight violation, citing rules that dictate a wrestler cannot compete if they exceed the weight limit.
The United States wrestling team vehemently appealed against the decision, arguing that Snyder's weight excess was minimal and that he had been consistently maintaining weight throughout the competition.
The UWW, headed by Nenad Lalovic, reviewed the case and considered factors like Snyder's previous weight compliance, the small margin of excess weight, and the potential impact on the competition.
After reviewing the case, Lalovic personally reinstated Snyder, allowing him to compete in the tournament.
My question is - how can the UWW follow different standards for different players? Isn’t this bias and authoritarianism? And why didn’t the Indian Government raise Kyle Snyder’s example to fight Vinesh Phogat’s disqualification?
Or did the Indian contingent simply didn’t want to fight for Vinesh Phogat?
Unlike those who will walk away with medals, #VineshPhogat had to wrestle with thousands to get here; not just other wrestlers but harassment, accusations, state oppression and lies. She's our greatest living sportsperson—they can keep their 400 gms medal, we'll keep her 100 gms.
Tale of two pictures. These should haunt the Modi government as it goes to sleep tonight even as the rest of the country celebrates this wonderful courageous athlete. #VineshPhogat@Phogat_Vinesh
Really @airindia is it normal for tiny water droplets to keep falling inside the cabin? Been flying since forever and have never experienced this! Beyond ridiculous
Flying back home from Dubai to Delhi #AirIndia flight and I'm sitting in an aisle seat. Ever since I've boarded the plane, tiny water droplets have been falling all over me since the "AC" has just begun. This is ridiculous 😭😡😡😡
