AI will change workflows, yes. But strong engineering judgment still comes from years of building, debugging, and understanding how systems actually work.

A weird thing is happening in tech:

Companies want 5+ years of experience for roles that used to be entry level. At the same time, many are shrinking the very pipeline that creates those people.

Senior engineers do not magically appear. They are yesterday’s juniors who got hired, mentored, shipped, failed, fixed things, and learned.

If companies stop investing in early-career talent, they are not solving the problem. They are pushing it into the future.

one of the coolest projects I’ve built in under 24 hours has to be an all-in-one wellbeing app my team and I built at HackCU 2026.

we wanted to build something that didn’t feel like 5 different wellness apps awkwardly stitched together.

tech stack: Next.js 14, React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Node/Next API routes, MongoDB Atlas, JWT auth, Google Gemini, MediaPipe Pose, Yelp Fusion API, Web Speech API, and ElevenLabs.

we also used Claude and Codex during the sprint to move faster on prototyping and debugging.
