#WATCH | Kolkata | On ED sending a mail to the Acting Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court for urgent hearing of the matter and for change of judge in ED raid matter, Advocate Arka Kumar Nag says, "There were a lot of people and law interns unrelated to the matter, in the court when the matter was to be heard... Even MP Kalyan Banerjee was present and requested the advocates to disperse in lieu of the judge, but the chaos was high... Ultimately, the judge left the courtroom, and the hearing was postponed. After this, we heard that the ED approached the office of the Chief Justice for an early hearing, but the plea was not considered, and the matter will now be heard on 14th January." (09.01)

West Bengal: The Calcutta High Court has granted conditional bail to former Kankurgachi Police Station SI Ratna Sarkar and former Home Guard Dipankar Debnath in the post-poll murder case of BJP worker Abhijit Sarkar from Kankurgachi.

Advocate Arka Nag says, "The ground on behalf of the bail applicants was that there was a prolonged delay of four years in filing the second supplementary charge sheet. In the first supplementary charge sheet, the police officers who are now accused in the second charge sheet were actually listed as witnesses. So, witnesses have been converted into accused, and that too after four years..."

Over the incident, Bhowanipore PS has registered the FIR on 24.04.2025 Ref : Case No. 90/25 under proper sections of law of BNS & PCA Act on PETA’s complaint. Appropriate legal action is being taken against the accused person involved. The horse is under medical care with regular vet checkups. Grateful to all who flagged the issue.

Advocate Arka Kumar Nag, representing the state government, says, "Our government had already called the BSF, but Suvendu Adhikari probably does not trust the BSF, so he filed the case and felt that some more central forces are needed. The state government has no such motive or there was no such intention that any law and order issue should be created. A political interest petition has been filed in the name of public interest litigation, no one should get any political benefit from this political interest petition... The court said that central forces will be deployed in Murshidabad..."

Shri Nandan Kumar Barua; the Head Master of the Chattogram Hathazari Kuyaish Sammilini High School has been forced to resign from his job and is being evicted out of the School premises with complete disdain.

What is his fault? Why was he subjected to such humiliation?
The only reason is that he belongs to the Sanatani Community and was holding a respectable job in Bangladesh.

What would Mamata Banerjee say about this incident? My guess is that she won't react as it may offend her vote bank.
The Secular Leader of West Bengal, who preaches that "ধর্ম যার যার, উৎসব সবার"; meaning, religion is personal but celebration is for everyone, will keep mum as condemnation may erode her party's support base, especially when a person belonging to the Sanatani Community is being penalized for his religious identity.

Stunned, shocked, and saddened by the sudden demise of my long-time colleague Sri Saurabh Kumar Das.

A senior member of the Indian Administrative Service of West Bengal cadre, he headed our Panchayat and PHE departments, rose to become the State Election Commissioner, and was the Chairman of the West Bengal Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation too. Ever smiling and ever helpful, he will be remembered as an excellent officer and a perfect gentleman.
