@GregoryCaridi@dymphnaw Where’s the pastoral concern for me in this situation? It gives scandal and provokes to wrath. This is why people get impatient with canon law, because there is microscopic focus on tithing the mint and the cumin and meanwhile the baby is in danger.
A few people have posted stories of "petty tyranny" from Catholic staff - here is mine: Once a friend asked me to be godfather to his son in another state. The parish there needed a message from my parish saying I was "qualified". The parish secretary refused to give it to me because you have to take a class, and that class only happens every three months. Thing is, I taught the class! I worked for the diocese, and just got the bishop to write the note...
@GregoryCaridi@dymphnaw Let me remind you, you are defending the requirement for the baby to be several weeks post birth before the parish will even SCHEDULE the baptism.
@GregoryCaridi Bureaucracy for the sake of consistent policy is injustice, because the pastor had actual knowledge that it was our baby and that we had the proper formation and disposition to receive the sacrament, and therefore we had a right to receive it without further barrier.
@EnjoyerG3@CharlesinRome You’re lucky. Our pastor deferred to the DRE when we complained about having to take the class for a third time (my wife teaches religion at the parish school!)

Alan Wilson hasn’t even clinched the GOP nomination yet, so it’s not like Mace is simply getting behind the lone Republican. She’s choosing to endorse someone she swore was running cover for child predators, in case you were wondering if she meant any of that.
