The research focuses on how ageing unfolds across interconnected tissues, including the heart, skeletal muscle and blood, rather than studying each system in isolation.
Led by Professor Nir Eynon and Dr Macsue Jacques at ARMI, with clinical leadership from Professor Silvana Marasco (Alfred Hospital), the project brings together molecular biology, bioinformatics and frontline clinical expertise.
Congratulations to Dr William Roman (@EMBLAustralia group leader @ARMI_Labs, @MonashUni) on receiving a @phenomics Australia Pipeline Accelerator 2025–26 award.
His project will use genome-scale functional screening to identify new therapeutic targets for muscle atrophy and regeneration, supported by the Victorian Centre for Functional Genomics (PeterMac).

Her work reveals how sensory neurons and immune cells coordinate tissue repair and why this matters for chronic wounds. With an ARC DECRA, she is now uncovering how nerves first activate after injury.

He explored ARMI’s capabilities and was especially excited by AquaCore, our world-class aquatic research facility and the largest of its kind in the southern hemisphere.
AquaCore supports Australia’s regenerative medicine community with zebrafish, medaka, killifish, axolotl and epaulette shark, enabling advanced studies in regeneration, development and disease.
