£2.5bn for British steel. That’s the same as the annual budget for agriculture….
Steel industry employs 33,700 - contributes £1.8bn to the economy 🏭
Agriculture employs 285,000 - contributes £13.7bn to the economy 🌾
Unbelievable…
In signing off this budget, Labour’s DEFRA Secretary @SteveReedMP has effectively put two fingers up to our farming community.
And this is his response👇

It is such a privilege when OM families choose to stay in touch. We love hearing your news, and we absolutely love this OM photo from Isla’s 18th birthday. Thank you so much for sharing! Happy birthday, Isla! 🥳 🎂 🥂 ❤️
Since Labour took power @DefraGovUK Ministers have been silent on rural policy.
Critical funds still haven’t been delivered to farmers in need & there is increasing concern the farming budget is about to be slashed.
Watch my message to @SteveReedMP ahead of next week’s budget👇
What absolute nonsense. Don't most people want to work hard to do better by their own families? To have a better house, better holidays, better furniture? Isn't that a worthwhile thing?
Wouldn't life be very much better if more people took responsibility for their families and for building their own future? And when they do that, and have a little bit left over to help people less fortunate than themselves—isn't that a good thing?
And aren't we trying to get the Third World out of the poverty it's in by building up its industries and having some investment to go and help them with?
John Wesley answered the question you just put: 'Do not impute to money the faults of human nature.' It's not the money, it's not the wealth you create; it's what you do with it.
Many people use their money to do more for the arts, to see more, to enjoy more of the great artistic works. Look at the fantastic voluntary effort in this country. It's enormous.
Greed? Isn't it absurd! Trade unions mostly argue for higher wages. They argue for bigger differentials.
Some people are greedy. But people who want a better standard of living and better way of life for their children are not. They're highly moral. They're highly valued citizens and they're usually those people who look after their houses, their families and they look after their neighbourhoods—community spirit. This is the real 'Thatcherism'.
🇬🇧Farmers are the lifeblood of our rural economy. They work around the clock to put great quality food on our plates.
That’s why this #BackBritishFarmingDay - it is vital our new Labour Gov commit to maintain, if not enhance farming budget to provide certainty our farmers need.
This year’s #FarmSafetyWeek offers an opportunity for a real reset in the way we all approach farm safety and risk-taking.
We can't continue to rely on luck – luck has a habit of running out…

THE CURRENT BANKING CRISIS EXPLAINED BY AN IRISHMAN
☘️Young Paddy bought a donkey from a farmer for €100.
The farmer agreed to deliver the donkey the next day.
The next day he drove up and said, 'Sorry son, but I have some bad news. The donkey's died.'
Paddy replied, 'Well then just give me my money back.'
The farmer said, 'Can't do that. I've already spent it.'
Paddy said, 'OK, then, just bring me the dead donkey.'
The farmer asked, 'What are you going to do with him?'
Paddy said, 'I'm going to raffle him off.'
The farmer said, 'You can't raffle a dead donkey!'
Paddy said, 'Sure I can. Watch me. I just won't tell anybody he's dead.'
A month later, the farmer met up with Paddy and asked,
' What happened with that dead donkey?'
Paddy said, 'I raffled him off. I sold 500 tickets at €2 each and made a profit of €898'
The farmer said, 'Didn't anyone complain?'
Paddy said, 'Just the guy who won. So I gave him his €2 back.'
Paddy now works for the Bank of Ireland
😁😁
🇩🇪 The German farmers have successfully blocked dozens of highways with the help of the German truckers.
This is my view up on a tractor on the A2 - Europe’s busiest highway.
I’m blown away. History in the making.
I could listen to @DrAwalfuseini all day. Endlessly interesting.
‘62% of the Muslim population in the UK eat lamb once a week. 6% of the wider British population eat lamb once a week. This market is worth £2bn a year.’
You cannot ignore this! #OFC24
HMRC taxing people on the money they make selling things on Vinted as they see it as a form of self employment. In that case shouldn’t they be taking into account what price those items were originally bought for as realistically most people will make a slight loss not a profit?
