This month the Defence School of Transport held a day of #SUV and #motorbike racing. Members of the public and soldiers competed in a navigation rally. Their driving and navigation skills were tested in #offroad and simulated situations.

Between December 1971 and August 1972 a @BritishArmy expedition led by Explorer and Officer John Blashford-Snell piloted two Range Rovers 17,000-miles along the Pan-American Highway, from Alaska to Cape Horn.

As they rode up through Patagonia and into Chile’s Torres del Paine National Park, the team faced relentless crosswinds and unpredictable changes in road surface.

The CCM GP450s took it all in their stride, however, and the riders were rewarded with the most incredible views...

The 1975 Joint-Services Expedition was one of the earliest examples of military motorised adventure.

Led by RAF Squadron Leader Tom Sheppard, the team traversed Africa from the Atlantic Ocean to the Red Sea, covering 7,500 miles in 81 days.
