We refined our shared vision for the awesome potential of photonic chip frequency combs over the next decade, and finalised our near term plans for achieving that vision. Now to put those plans into action!
It was a privilege to lead our first @COMBSCentre#COMBS2024 Workshop last week, with ~80 people from all over the world and of course all our nodes in Australia - collaborating on monitoring earthquakes, turbo-charging the internet, astronomy and fundamental physics (and more!)
The same optical fibres used for our internet can be excellent ground-motion sensors & the best part is that they're already everywhere!
I'm excited to be working with @MeghanSMiller in our @COMBSCentre to make technology even more accessible, sensitive and real-time!
Congratulations to @SumeetWalia, PhD researcher Aishani Mazumder and team!
This research will help our @COMBSCentre sensors
decide where to focus - whether looking at earthquakes, gases in the environment or self-driving cars - all in real time!

For 5 years, we have been working with Advanced Navigation to make optical gyroscopes - devices that measure orientation & rotation - smaller, lighter & more cost effective.
@Photonics_spectra feature us in their latest issue!

Thx @JamesSchlett !
Are you our new Chief Operating Officer? This is a 7-year position for someone who shares our vision & ambition to see what is possible & how we can tackle important problems using photonic chips.
Applications close tomorrow, Thu 11 May, AEST!

Amazing to get most of the @arc_gov_au Centre of Excellence COMBS team together in Lancefield Victoria for our first #brainstorm / planning meeting. So many new ideas - so many new connections! (and what a great environment!)
What a difference a year makes! Great to get almost the whole @InPAC_RMIT team together for our 2023 workshop. More than 35 presenters sharing their stories & insights! (great discussions over dinner too!).
Special thx @rachael_vorwerk & Nicci Coad!

Less than one week to go!
My first OS trip after the pandemic is to @PhotonicsWest - what a great kick off!
I'll be presenting my perspective on future integrated photonic systems: LASE 4pm Mon 30th Jan.
Going? Let's meet up!

Today, I'm delighted to announce our @ScienceMagazine article exploring the potential of the crystal lithium niobate.
Lithium niobate photonic chips could one day help us 'see' if fruit is ripe or navigate a lunar rover on the moon!

What is a frequency comb and what can they be used for? How can photonic chips help?
Join me next week (Jan 18, 2023 17:00 EST) to find out!
