@DeptofWar Hard to believe it’s been 25 years. A lot of veterans who served in the years after 9/11 carried their own burdens too, and many eventually had to navigate a complicated VA system when they needed support.

@DAVHQ Respite care is important, but finding the right resources can be exhausting too. Caregivers already have enough to manage. Sometimes private assistant help can make it easier to sort through options and figure out where to start.

@DAVHQ The hard part is that a lot of veterans are taught to just keep pushing, and the VA doesn’t always make it easy to figure out where to turn when that stops working. Having support outside the system can sometimes help someone actually find the resources and guidance they need.
