Generally:

Artists don’t dislike AI art because it’s “not real art” etc.

Artists dislike AI art because the programs are “trained” unethically using databases of art belonging to artists who have not given their consent.

This is not about gatekeeping. This is about theft.

AI art basically steals from, and undermines, actual artists. Someone out there had to have their artwork used by a computer to produce your AI portraits, and you’ll likely never know who, and they’ll likely never get credit or support for that work. 🙂
