It is deeply disappointing and frankly unacceptable to see a director of #Pandiraj’s stature stooping to such low levels in his film #ParimalaandCo. By reportedly naming a comedian character “UyirUlag” — a clear and deliberate mash-up of the real names of #Nayanthara and #VigneshShivan’s twin sons, Uyir and he has crossed a line that should never be crossed in public discourse or creative work.
#Nayanthara and her husband have always maintained a relatively private stance when it comes to their children, choosing to share only occasional, loving glimpses of their family life while shielding the boys from the harsh glare of constant media scrutiny. The twins, born via surrogacy, represent a deeply personal and hard-won chapter in their lives — a story of joy, resilience, and new beginnings after years of waiting. Turning their innocent names into fodder for cheap laughs in a mainstream commercial film is not just tasteless; it feels like a calculated jab that drags vulnerable children into an adult feud or rivalry.
This kind of indirect mockery reveals a filthy and immature mentality that has no place in cinema or society at large. If Pandiraj or anyone else has genuine professional differences, creative disagreements, or personal issues with Nayanthara, Vignesh Shivan, or any other public figure, the mature and ethical approach is to address them directly — through open dialogue, interviews, or even subtle artistic expression that doesn’t involve innocent bystanders. Children, especially young ones who cannot consent to or defend themselves against such public ridicule, should remain completely off-limits. Using their names in this manner isn’t clever satire or dark humor; it comes across as petty, vindictive, and downright cruel.
In an industry that already faces enough scrutiny for its handling of personal matters, this incident only adds fuel to the fire of public distrust. Audiences expect filmmakers to entertain, provoke thought, or even push boundaries responsibly — not to weaponize real people’s family lives for cheap comedic mileage. Nayanthara has built a formidable career through talent, perseverance, and grace, rising above numerous challenges. Mocking her children does nothing to diminish her stature; instead, it diminishes the director who resorts to such tactics.
True artistry and strong character are shown not just in how one celebrates success, but in how one handles disagreements — with dignity, restraint, and respect for boundaries. Dragging kids into the narrative erodes that dignity entirely. One hopes that creators like Pandiraj reflect on this and understand that their words and choices on screen carry real-world weight, especially when they target the most defenseless members of a family. Public figures deserve criticism where due, but their children deserve protection and privacy. Anything less is simply beneath civilized standards.
