The problem in Punjab is the "sant"ification of Bhindranwale. You speak with Punjabi intellectuals off the record (Hindu or Sikh) they'll admit Bhindranwale damaged Sikhi more than helped it. But none of them come on the record because of reasons that I cannot understand.
To me Bhindranwale was a man with bad ideas. He was a religious zealot. I'd say that about many Hindu preachers too. But somehow we cannot speak about Bhindranwale. We should criticise this human being with all objectivity.
