So curious that such a wealthy man never posts anything that indicates that he enjoys or is even aware of what virtually everyone appreciates— scenes from nature, pet dog or cat, praise for a movie, music, a book (but doubt that he reads); pride in a friend’s or relative’s accomplishment; condolences for someone who has died; pleasure in sports, acclaim for a favorite team; references to history. In fact he seems totally uneducated , uncultured. The poorest persons on Twitter may have access to more beauty & meaning in life than the “most wealthy person in the world.”
I am saddened and angered that someone would use the anniversary of this night of terror against Jews to instill fear and stoke antisemitism. This kind of hate and attempt to instill fear has no place in the District. Full statement on Char Bar incident: https://t.co/DfE9sOEaAC
For those who wondered how American society allowed the sins of our past, realize that tonight Trump won the majority in spite of his lack of character and integrity. He demonstrated his racism, misogyny, xenophobia and tried to overthrow the government with an insurrection with any accountability or consequence. He is celebrated for his strategy of packing the court that will ultimately give him immunity and throw out his convictions. His indictments will disappear. This says everything about our society. We absolved this behavior by electing him. A celebration of criminality.
When mathematics learning is focused on ideas - and more importantly the connection of mathematical ideas, it is interesting of itself. Mathematics does not have to be "gamified" or involve "real world" problem-solving to be interesting or relevant.
Sen. Warnock in Atlanta: "I want you to hear the tragic irony of a man guilty of sexual assault saying he's going to do something for women whether they like it or not. America, pay attention. That's the language of a predator. And we don’t need a predator in the White House."
Oh look, LeBron was asked about a public political statement that he made and he explained IN DETAIL why he did it.
Nick Bosa doesn’t have the guts to do this.
Nearly $600 million was spent in support of the two major presidential candidates, with 75% of billionaire contributions benefiting Trump.
Trump has promised to renew tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations.
Billionaires are $3 trillion richer since the first Trump tax cuts.
BREAKING: 150 billionaire families have now poured a record-breaking $1.9 BILLION into the 2024 election.
That's $700 million more than 600+ billionaires spent on the 2020 election.
Billionaires shouldn't get to buy our elections.
End Citizens United. Tax billionaires.
As a historian who has spent months in the National Archives, I say (not lightly) this U.S. Archivist should b fired. The National Archives should b concerned w/preserving & presenting the truth--nothing else. This is what historian @TimothyDSnyder calls "anticipatory obedience."
This is how dictators destroy free nations. They threaten those who speak against them with death. We cannot entrust our country and our freedom to a petty, vindictive, cruel, unstable man who wants to be a tyrant. #Womenwillnotbesilenced#VoteKamala
It just hit me: there are *TWO* reporters left at @wamu885, a station that covers a metropolitan area of 6 million people. That’s one-tenth the size the newsroom was two years ago, and the smallest it has been in two decades.
the search function on twitter is completely broken.
yet another issue, after nuking the blue check mark, influx of porn/betting/political bots, clear push to political agenda, the sewage waste that is the "for you" page & more... frustrating how this site was kneecap'd
incredible move by the Washington Post TikTok guy: He made a TikTok about the paper’s non-endorsement move on the Washington Post account.
top comment is: “fascinating that THIS was allowed”
The irrational "both sides" fetish has created a dynamic where it is more controversial to call a fascist than it is for Republican politicians to praise Hitler like Trump and Mark Robinson do.
Calling a Nazi a Nazi is more controversial than being an actual Nazi!
Wtaf!
He literally banned an entire religious group, separated families, and committed a coup. He's now campaigning on having detention camps. The argument from fools like Musk is that he's not Hitler in 1942. Meaning Hitler in 1932 is also not Hitler.
