We desperately need help!

Children and teachers spent as much as 7 hours on the road getting to school and back home today. Sadly, this is not a one-off event

We urgently need to invest in mass mobility & public transport, a bigger road network - long term investments for an ever growing #Bengaluru.

And meanwhile, there are things we can do now:

• Keep heavy vehicles off key roads during school peak hours
• Enforce penalties for wrong-side driving & other traffic violations
• Incentivise school buses & shared transport over individual vehicles
• Collect real mobility data and use simulation / “what-if” analysis to determine optimal school & office timings
• Fix potholes, blocked drains & other bottlenecks urgently

This area is home to some of Bengaluru’s and India’s best schools. Their parents & educators have built Brand Blr. And these thousands of children will power the future of our city & country

Surely we can do better for them & for the teachers, parents, staff & citizens who are losing hours of their lives on our roads every day. This needs both immediate action and long-term planning

I believe all stakeholders want what’s right for our citizens & city. So here’s hoping, praying … working collaboratively towards effective solutions

You’ve been in power for three years now, and it’s only fair that citizens expect visible results — not just “new proposals,” “new DPRs,” or statements like “every city has potholes.” Bengaluru deserves tangible progress, not rhetoric. If even half of the promised infrastructure commitments had been delivered, people wouldn’t be voicing such frustration.

Some basic, pressing questions remain unanswered:
1.What is the current status of the Varthur CDP Road?
2.Why hasn’t construction on the next phase of Namma Metro started, despite central approval?
3.What concrete steps are being taken to address the city’s long-standing garbage management issues?
4.Why isn’t the Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP) being used as the guiding framework for major decisions?
5.Why are critical economic corridors — Sarjapur Road, ORR, Hosur Main Road, and E-City — not being prioritized for infrastructure upgrades?

These are fundamental issues that directly impact millions of Bengalureans. Yet, the government’s focus appears to be elsewhere — on grand announcements like the “tunnel road” and “skydeck.”

For over two and a half years, I’ve avoided criticizing the administration, hoping meaningful progress would follow. But seeing the daily struggles faced by citizens, especially those commuting through Varthur and surrounding areas, it feels necessary — and responsible — to ask these questions now.

You work hard for day & night to earn good money and secure good future, but lose with high prices, travelling costs, bribes etc. From whatever saved, you grudgingly pay GST and income tax on it.
And that hard earned money is spent/looted like this just before elections by govt.

@kiranshaw It is now deeply embarassing for Indian professionals to host overseas visitors in Bangalore. The contrast between GCC campuses (you could be in Si valley), and the public infrastructure (a 17th C overcrowded village without basic amenities) is simply too stark.

When IT companies on the Outer Ring Road, ITPL, Electronic City, Manyata Tech Park, Bagmane Tech Park etc. went completely remote for more than a year during Covid, they can do that again if Government mandates them to do so. Employees are losing productive hours during their commute.
Invoke the BCP, close the IT parks for a few months, fix the roads and rain water drains, fix the broken Infrastructure. Complete the flyover constructions, Procure more BMTC Buses, fast track the Metro construction.
Where there is a will, there is a way. Fix Bengaluru once for all.
