@jakemintz Organization. That’s the killer feature. It’s so easy to lose Google Docs, but notion docs always feel like they’re in the “same” place. They’re searchable, they’re hierarchical, and you can see who they’re shared with.
@DKThomp@cremieuxrecueil@joshcmorrison Want to say thank you Derek for sticking w this line of argument. Really helpful to lay out clear, coherent statements instead of trading hot takes.
@gabriel1 Kids need to be exposed to ideas, though, and getting rid of schools (ie forcing them to learn math) isn’t a real option. We just need to stop making it so damn boring.
@gregoryblotnick Many of these are on a spectrum, not an on off switch. You can persuade someone to take a litttle more risk than they’re comfortable with. But you’re not going to flip their position on the spectrum.
Roscoe Turner, a celebrity aviator around the time of Amelia Earhart, would fly with this pet lion, Gilmore. Gilmore logged over 25K miles on the air before he outgrew the cockpit (at 150lbs).
Before Machiavelli made a name for himself, he was arrested for treason and subjected to strappado- hoisted by his wrists tied behind his back and left hanging for hours. Released after a few weeks, he couldn’t wait to get back to scheming government overthrow. That’s dedication.
@rileywestreel Wait, he’s the same guy that told us every time Claude makes a mistake, be sure to add a new memory or rule to your Claude.md so it doesn’t happen again.
@ChrissGPT How great is this back and forth, though? I wish google buckle down and make a good coding model, but lucky to have these two pushing each other.
@emollick Coming up w sweeping AI policy on the fly is not a going to end well. Has any third party come up w a reasonable regulation stance that people can start rallying behind?
@literaryeric I think it’s worse than that. Chamath definitely understands statistics, and knows what he’s saying is BS, but for some reason he’s saying it anyway and it’s really not good for our society.
@paulg How Children Learn by John Holy is a great compromise here. It’s about parenting and learning, but told through interesting autobiographical stories
In 1955, only about a quarter of high school students learned algebra. It wasn’t widely introduced until Sputnik launched and the US govt freaked out about falling behind the soviets in math and science.
@scottbelsky The problem is that obsessions are fickle, and it's easy to over-rotate and burn out on a single "passion." Most kids jump from obsession to obsession over the course of weeks or months, but they can't find that next obsession if they're not constantly exposed to new ideas.
@saranormous@NoPriorsPod how do we get from AGI to ASI when we don’t have a reward function for “superintelligence,” don’t know what one would look like, and prolly couldn’t tell the difference between superintelligence vs just acting weird?
@ajambrosino Make the terminal shared. I have my terminal windows inside codex, and I can inspect the terminals started by codex, but they should all be in the same spot and collaborative.
Is it just my feed, or are BadBunny related posts getting suppressed? He’s not even trending after one of the most controversial halftime shows ever booked.
