long story short, it's through the chief (let's pretend everyone knows that they are the direct ref of jesus christ) that shalom is finally able to reclaim her long-lost humanity, hence the "restored heart" mentioned in her lore.
when she completely ran out of utility value to paradeisos, she was discarded without hesitation and left to die, clearing the way for the system to deploy a brand new hush unit.
moreover, many of david’s psalms were penned while he was being actively hunted down, having stripped of his crown and kingdom. this mirrors shalom's absolute lowest point in the story.
shalom faces two massive factions simultaneously: paradeisos and the underground. without raw cosmic power, she relies on schemes and calculated gambits to outsmart them. ironically, she's a reticle (marksman) utilizing schorl instead of a classic slingshot like david.
even though she remains a tragic victim of the paradeisos system, she takes agency. this brings us to the second parallel: david vs goliath. it's the ultimate asymmetric matchup where the giant represents an invincible, absolute power, and david is just a small underdog.
shalom does everything within her power to save herself and protect the chief (so the chief can ultimately save everyone else). her hands are deeply stained with blood, and she knows she can’t just fix things seamlessly like a typical shounen protagonist.
to fully grasp this context, u rlly need to read shalom's interrogation. in judaism, david symbolizes the ultimate return through repentance. similarly, her story tells us that flaws don't define a person, it's how they face and mend them. (i'm not toning down what she did btw)
this exact themes echoes in shalom's character, particularly through the flavor text of the crimebrand "heartache" which directly quotes psalm 51 (written by david after his transgression): "in your mercy, grant me pardon... restore my soul to its pure form."
first, let's look at the theme of true repentance. in biblical history, king david committed grave sins but when confronted by the prophet nathan, he didn't abuse his absolute power to silence the witness. instead, he completely broke down and admitted his guilt.
you are telling me i play this damn gacha game for nearly 4 years and it is not until today that i realize they put a DRAGON AGE 2 reference in one of the music records???????
