@BasedIllinoisan Nobody should be celebrating or be pissed about it. For you, it literally changes nothing.
What we should celebrate are all the engineers and employees who were gifted shares and become millionaires today for their hard work.
That’s the goal..but you probably want to tax it.
@TheCptGreybeard What are Kansas and Nebraska then? Both are certainly not southern in culture.
IMO if you have salt, rust, Culvers, and Menards, you are a midwestern state.
@jeremyct What’s the “master’s degree” in and where did they go?
Since it’s not a requirement for work, those types of degrees are only useful in very specific programs/schools. Otherwise it’s a complete waste of money and is no better than a bachelors.
@O_T_Lee@CharlieW0486@TheRealJChubby I think we can find common ground there. I do believe in paying a fair share but I don’t think 50% is fair, especially when they don’t put any strain on social programs.
I think we should freeze and further debt or tax increases until the budget is transparent and balanced.
@O_T_Lee@CharlieW0486@TheRealJChubby Those businesses have lobbied to keep their markets from being free. Another example of govt intervention. I believe lobbying congress should be illegal.
@O_T_Lee@CharlieW0486@TheRealJChubby Prove that point. All the government programs I mentioned have objectively outpaced the cost of anything privately run. I’m American, I prefer to vote and advocate towards fixing my country. Idk how you think this massive deficit is sustainable and want to push it deeper.
@O_T_Lee@CharlieW0486@TheRealJChubby The government can’t balance a budget and raises tons of debt that causes inflation. Private businesses are where the only growth in the US economy comes from. The government shreds the money it takes from people already, you’re dumb to think giving them more will help.
@O_T_Lee@CharlieW0486@TheRealJChubby I say it because these proposals overwhelmingly end up hurting the upper middle class the most. Also just understanding the economic state of the country, I hate the idea of more government spending and oversight. Free markets are better 100% of the time.
@Jeff1mb@CharlieW0486@TheRealJChubby Endowments work by investing safely and always protecting their principal. Yearly distributions should just be a small percentage of the portfolio/only portfolio income. By letting the government borrow, it can’t operate this way and the dollars in there lose to inflation.
