Rs 22,006 crore claims. Rs 6.5 crore repayment. NCLT says yes.
The Delhi Bench of NCLT has approved #ZeeGroup founder Subhash Chandra’s repayment plan in his personal insolvency case, offering creditors just Rs 6.25 crore, plus Rs 25 lakh in process costs, against admitted claims of Rs 22,006.57 crore.
That is an almost 100% haircut.
LIC Housing Finance, which has a Rs 1,322 crore claim, will get just Rs 38.09 lakh — 0.028% of its dues.
Creditors had challenged the plan, alleging a rushed process, procedural violations and voting by entities they claimed were associated with Chandra.
The NCLT itself had delivered a split view: the judicial member approved the plan, while the technical member wanted it rejected. A third member ultimately backed approval.
His key reasoning: the tribunal cannot substitute its commercial assessment for the creditors’ collective decision unless there is a fundamental legal infirmity, fraud, concealment or material irregularity.
*Chandra’s side argued that Rs 6.5 crore was virtually all that could be recovered from his limited personal estate, and bankruptcy would not necessarily improve creditors’ recovery.*

Paid a premium for NOICE bread on @SwiggyInstamart because of its claims of small-batch production & no palm oil.
What I received was a loaf completely covered in fungus.
It's a serious food safety & quality-control issue.

Huge crowd outside Krishnagar Circuit House shouting “Jai Shree Ram” while district administration calling/messaging me repeatedly to vacate room. Supreme Court asked me to face bullets so here I am … not backing down
It’s midnight. Happy Independance Day. I truly hope that very soon we see a government that understands the import of Pandit Nehru’s words - with freedom comes power and responsibility.
Dear @IPUparliament I am a sitting woman MP in India. I was asked by govt to vacate my room in official guest house at 21:47 hrs & then at 22:52 hrs. While a BJP crowd is baying for my blood outside the gates. This is state of democracy in India on Independance Day.
Her name was Hind Rajab — just 5 years old.
Trapped in a car for 48 hours, surrounded by Israeli tanks, she begged for help.
They executed her with 355 bullets.
Never forgive. Never forget.
Nothing is more painful than seeing a parent grieve their child.
Behind every young life lost is a family carrying pain that will never leave them - and serious questions about a broken education system.
Leaked papers. Cancelled exams. Years of preparation destroyed overnight. Our students are told to work honestly in a system that is not honest with them.
And the Prime Minister has the audacity to speak of “forgiving” students.
He has not met a single grieving parent. He has not sat with a single student whose future was stolen by a leaked paper.
India’s students do not need his forgiveness. They are owed his apology.

Delhi Police denied but RAF fired pellet gun at protesters on the directions of a Delhi Police officer, general diary entry at Parliament Street police station, accessed by The Hindu shows.

In a first, pellet guns, shock-batons used against protestors in Delhi. Part of RAF’s gear for crowd control measures, pellets were last used during 2024 farmers protest in Haryana, Manipur (2023) and Kashmir (2016). Pellets can potentially blind the target.
Though police denied and CRPF did not comment, at least one among 80 protestors injured during CJP march was operated upon at a govt hospital, pellets removed from under his eye and neck . @ButaniAshna and I ✍️

Oscar-winning actor Javier Bardem told Mehdi Hasan on Zeteo that the world is increasingly rallying behind Palestine as Israel's genocidal actions in Gaza have become impossible to ignore.
Bardem argued that the growing worldwide support for Palestine is a direct response to the atrocities witnessed in Gaza and the West Bank, saying that "anybody with minimal common sense understands that that is wrong."
Discussing the political backdrop to the Spain–Argentina World Cup final, he also criticised Argentine President Javier Milei for openly aligning himself with Benjamin Netanyahu and far-right Israeli leaders, saying it was unfair to present Argentina as represented by those figures.
Bardem stressed that Netanyahu, Ben-Gvir, and the Israeli cabinet do not represent Jewish people and warned against antisemitism, while insisting that criticism of the Israeli government is both legitimate and necessary.
The actor said younger generations are driving a historic shift in public opinion because they are witnessing Israel's actions in real time and are increasingly demanding accountability, justice, and an end to the impunity enjoyed by Israel's leadership on the world stage.
