@TheAusInstitute HECS repayments are for loans the government extended to students. The government outlaid that money to universities, and is getting it back. The PRRT, by contrast, is a pure revenue impost over and above $10B+ P/A paid in tax? Comparing the two income streams seems misleading.

@DavidAFrench I agree but it is unfortunately hard for many societies at this time. The blame is squarely with opportunistic or weak politicians who cannot bring themselves to speak clearly like the pontif and then act consistently and accordingly.
