I’m still not sure whether to laugh or feel a quiet kind of awe about my husband.
This past weekend, his family came over for dinner. We were all gathered around the table when his elder sister decided to make a snide remark about the meal I had prepared.
Before I could even open my mouth to reply, he turned to her calmly and said,
My sister called me at 5:12am today.
Her voice was shaking.
“I don’t want to scare him,” she said. “But I’m tired.”
She’s 8 months pregnant.
Swollen feet.
Back pain.
Sleepless nights.
Her husband works two jobs now.
One in the daytime.
One at night.
Not because he wants to “hustle.”
But because hospital bills don’t care about romance.
Last night the power went out.
No inverter.
No generator fuel.
Just heat and silence.
She said she watched him sit on the floor beside the bed, fanning her for almost an hour.
When she told him to sleep, he said,
“If you’re carrying our future, the least I can do is carry tonight.”
She started crying when she told me that part.
Because this is the same man who used to split suya with her when they were dating.
The same man who proposed without a ring, just a promise.
@areebxh By 25, it is less about showing off and more about knowing your worth. Life is too short to explain yourself to people who do not respect you. Keep your circle small, your standards high, and your peace intact.
My wife hasn’t said “I love you” back in months.
This morning I finally noticed.
I asked her why.
She didn’t raise her voice, didn’t argue, and didn’t list everything I’ve done wrong…
She just said:
this lady on tiktok was asked when did she realize her husband loved her and she said “we got into an argument and i yelled at him LOUD AF.. he then said, "i’m in love with you and one day i want to marry you & have kids..so you're going to have to find a way to communicate your emotions without yelling because i’m not gonna have us arguing in front of our kids.".. and i think this is the type marriage im yearning for.
They say a relationship works only if the guy loves more than the girl and now I think I understand why. For a guy, what he feels matters. For a girl, how he makes her feel matters. He won't leave as long as he loves you and she won't leave as long as she feels loved.
And we all see that women submit naturally when they are loved right.
Do the right things, and hopefully things will work out for you.
To all of you looking forward to getting married, I pray you will marry right and your marriage will be successful. You will not marry a bastard, you will not marry a wicked person. You will have a compassionate spouse. Your home will be peaceful. Amen!
I just saw a guy in the library cry for about five minutes and then his phone alarm went off, he just stopped crying and went right back to work. And i can’t stop thinking about it 😭😭
I bought an engagement ring for my girlfriend today and I'm sitting here at my kitchen table just staring at it, hands shaking, not sure if it's excitement or pure terror.
Rachel and I have been together six years. Last month she got quiet after her sister's wedding, that specific kind of quiet that means something. I knew it was time to either do this or stop wasting her time.
Couldn't afford what she deserves on my salary. Spent three weeks looking at jewelry stores, each one tightening my chest because the numbers wouldn't work. Someone in a budgeting group mentioned finding vintage rings online, estate jewelry for reasonable prices.
Found this 1960s ring from a seller in Pennsylvania. Five small diamonds, delicate and simple. She sold it for a third of new retail, said she was happy it would finally mean something to someone.
Posted in the community online asking for low-budget suggestions. Got thirty responses saying it doesn't have to be perfect or expensive, just real.
Rachel gets home in three hours. Maybe tonight over leftover pizza I'll just ask her, because I can't keep this certainty in my chest anymore.
Hope it's enough. Hope I'm enough.

The moment you lose a parent, there comes a point where you start measuring every pain against that loss and nothing ever feels as painful, you end up responding to life with a kind of nonchalance not because you don’t care, but because you’ve already survived the worst.
