CONGRATULATIONS🎉🎨🚩: Seobeen Won, a seventh grader at East Samford School, has been named the Middle School level Youth Art Month (YAM) Flag Design winner for Alabama!
•
Youth Art Month will take place in March, and the flag competition’s theme for 2025 is “Healing Through Color,” as determined by the National Art Education Association. With more than 30 submissions across three grade divisions (elementary, middle, and high school), Seobeen’s art was selected, making it the second year in a row a student from East Samford School has won this award!

ACS is proud of the abundance of opportunities for students to excel and showcase their talents!

LEARNING THROUGH A LENS📸🖼️: During Mrs. Oliver's art classes today, seventh graders from East Samford School, with cameras in hand, captured "work" happening near campus!
•
In a partnership with Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art (JCSM), these students had the opportunity to meet and learn from North Carolina-based visual journalist Kate Medley earlier in the school year. Medley is known for documenting the American South in all its rustic glory. With Medley in mind, the students' documentation theme was "work." The students were well practiced in the professionalism expected from a photographer when interacting with the people they encountered during their visits to local businesses and received several compliments along the way.
•
Medley is set to be a juror for a showing of selected photographs taken by ESS students that will be on display in the spring of 2025 at JCSM. At least one image captured by every student who participated in this project will be on display at the Jan Dempsey Community Art Center during the last two weeks of April.
•
ACS thanks the local businesses welcoming the students and JCSM for providing the cameras for today's lesson!💙

Here’s a different take: Nick Saban was 72 when he retired after being at Alabama for 17 years. This means he didn’t start his final job until he was 55. He experienced many ups and downs - both successes and yes, failures prior to that. What are you doing with your life? It’s never too late …
We took Auburn High National Art Honor Society students to Auburn’s 2D and 3D buildings today. Fun trip back to our old stomping grounds! Class of ‘93! War Eagle!#bfa
@creativitydept@SchoolArts That’s a tough one! It depends on the time of year I think. Our small town has one high school and everyone shows up to support each other!
