we can demand better labor rights and pay for the working class, regardless of job, yet also recognize people should do their job correctly. it’s dehumanizing to assume poor workers are exempt from job expectations. it’s like y’all are calling us dumb or incapable.
as a previous gig worker i’ve had customers ranging from elderly people who can’t get out of the house to young drunk people. if you’re paying for a service you expect it to be done right. also why tf would i mess with someone’s order and risk my tip money like ???
In college I covered artist Julia Oldham for the school paper. She had a presentation on our campus and her piece “Laika’s Lullaby” has stuck with me for six years now. Rest in peace, little Laika.

68 years ago today, Laika the dog was launched into space by the Soviet Union to become the first animal to orbit the Earth.
No plans were made for her return and she died a few hours later due to overheating and stress.
@leftuinmotelbar ophelia is such a good song and the meaning behind it is reminiscent of what taylor has been talking about with showgirl, and even in older songs like the lucky one or nothing new. anyways cleopatra by the lumineers is one of my fav albums ive been revisiting lately :)
yes i’m a swiftie yes im terrified at the mere thought of another tour announcement. i cannot go through the hell that was the eras ticketmaster queue again
Tldr; tipping culture sucks but it’s how we can pay our bills. 20% when you’re being waited on is the expectation. You don’t have to tip for carry out orders if you don’t want to and you don’t have to tip if you weren’t actually waited on. I hope this was helpful.
I’d like to explain the history of tipping in America:
Tipping was a common practice in Europe and American travelers brought it back to the states to seem more cultured. Tipping became a wide spread practice to avoid paying recently freed slaves an actual wage +
he tipped 20% that’s pretty good and he’s european you’re lucky we tip anything at all cause that tipping culture america has is actually insane
just pay your workers a living wage omg
Tipping culture has gotten out of hand and you’ll be asked to tip at coffee shops or some retail outlets or whatever when you’re not actually being waited on. It’s a nice thing to tip your barista but not expected as they’re making an actual wage already.
