@GergelyOrosz I think that this issue existed even before AI and AI just highlighted the problem. The problem is that AI can generate code at far greater speed than humans can review it. At certain point, we will need to give up (maybe except for some critical parts/systems)

It's something that deeply resonates with me. I also believe in the same approach: let agent do all the implementation, but make sure that agent implement the right thing and it actually works.

It is my belief that many devs right now are not maximizing what they can do with automatic programming because they still look at the code. Doing it makes you the bottleneck. Your time is better invested in new ideas, QA, design, and asking yourself what is your goal.

Before vibe coding became a thing, programming was already evolving in that direction. It already increasingly consisted of installing and configuring stuff other people wrote, without reading the source.

@GergelyOrosz What I'm finding myself doing often recently is to review design/implementation plans in a loop.
Usually, agents only find a few issues during a normal run and then find more on subsequent runs.
So I'm now asking them to run in a loop until they will find 0 new major issues.

It's also a great example of how AI can increase developer productivity. It took me around a week (in my free time of course) to get to a working state with AI help and I'd guess that without it, the same result would have taken a month or two. The AI productivity gains are real!

It's interesting to see how many different people came to the same idea at the same time: that in the age of AI, the ability to run "who-knows-what's-inside" workloads is becoming more and more important.

The funny thing is that Firecracker has been sitting right there since 2018. Waiting for its prime time. And we can safely assume that its usage (and similar tech too) will only grow further.

@GergelyOrosz I actually spotted this too. I think it's more of a global problem, not just Anthropic. With AI shipping changes to prod without supervision, importance of good engineering practices (testing, observability, etc) will become even more important

@GergelyOrosz I think the problem is that us-east-1 is essentially an AWS Control Plane. And outage of service X in this region could affect parts of this control plane. Like for example, we had various IAM-related issues as part of the incident, even if actual infra runs in other regions

@GergelyOrosz Exactly! I was very bored with the basics at the university and didn't care much about it. With years of experience comes an understanding of its importance. Sure, you don't need those basics to build a web app or mobile app, but it's becoming essential when you grow higher

@GergelyOrosz Learning new languages too. For example, I actively used ChatGPT to prepare for my German language exam in February. It's not just translating, but it can point to specific mistakes and describe why this is right or wrong.

@GergelyOrosz COVID released the genie out of the bottle. Of course, some companies can (and will) push things to be as in the past.
But there is no way back in general. It's likely to be much more popular with newly launched companies as a perk. It will help them to attract talented folks.

@shipilev Проблема имеет место быть, но как и многое другое в Германии - это чистый рандом. Никогда не знаешь как оно в каждом конкретном случае получится. По своему опыту больше характерно не для DHL, а для всяких Hermes, UPS и иже с ними. Ну а Amazon это просто пример всем для подражания

@GergelyOrosz It would be nice if the new iOS offered some default notification settings. For example, right now I need to manually disable sound with notifications for almost every app (except for a few important ones). It would be nice if I could set this as the default behavior in iOS.

@SaukkonenVille @GergelyOrosz That is interesting since my experience in Germany was more of the opposite. Uber is much better there in my experience, but Bolt is sometimes slightly cheaper

@GergelyOrosz Interesting, it looks like it's pretty common in Germany to work for both simultaneously. I often saw a Bolt logo on a car called through Uber (and vice versa).
